Hajime no Ippo: New Challenger

Pfft, it was the climax! Okay, I admit I'm wrong; next will be climax for sure! XD

Indeed, it was a very, very close result; and at this point you won't know at all. I assure you, whatever you are thinking rethink it again.

Although many people underestimate it, I just absolutely love the BGM of these episodes; it really helps bring the mood along. By itself, it is also quite awesome. Oh, and the ending of Episode 22 was pretty epic. Takamura, guts pose, challenger - A legend.

You're right about the BGM. It is definietly something special. Even in the first season for Ippo I was always very happy to hear the BGM play when things got exciting. I think it's always been a step above other anime in the shonen department. AdRAB to the drama and action.

I'm still waiting on the next ep.....its freaking me out. XD

A remake would still be interesting even though the origional was great, I couldnt watch it through a second time, so a remake or a sequil, the more the merrier.

This is going to be awesome, really cant wait for this to start, one of my personal favorite anime/mangas, will be nice to see all the stuff thats happened in the manga be put into motion.

Well from what it looks like you can get the 2nd half of the series direct from amazon, but the first half would be from a separate amazon seller.

Episode 23:

Wow. Just Wow. This show is making me forget I even read the manga, making me doubt what actually happened. Less exciting than last episode, but it sets up for an excellent next episode. I won't bother putting any more comments in spoiler tags, worRAB can't describe it (cliche I know). XD

I repeat: Takamura - Legend

Just today I was searching for some animes on youtube and I saw the new sequel... I can't believe it!! I was waiting for this for 2 years!!! I am a very serious fan of this anime, thanks to this anime I started to practice boxing as a hobbie... I also read the manga, I hope they follow the story of the manga (cuz it simply rocks).

I'm not quite sure on it's legitimacy, but I dug around and apparently it is 'one of the two "big guys" in online anime retail, the other being AnimeNation'. I couldn't find a lot of reviews, but apparently the merchandise is in great quality but it takes quite some time for it to deliver. But who knows, reviews aren't the most trustworthy thing.

If you scroll down, you can see all the other 14 DVD sets for Hajime no Ippo. Each set costs $5 which contains 4 episodes. There's also an additional set called Champion Road which is basically the movie sequel to Hajime no Ippo. All in all, it costs $80 if you order from that site.

If you dislike that idea, then the whole Hajime no Ippo series on manga goes up to exactly and ending at Chapter 269. After that, the manga which is animated and produced as an OVA goes from Chapter 270 to, and ending, at Chapter 288. And after that, the manga which is animated and produced as a movie goes from Chapter 289 to, and ending, at Chapter 289. Anything after that is then covered by the new Anime series.

So if you buy the whole set without the OVA, then read from 270-288.

Hope that helps mate. ^^

Episode 4:

An excellent non-fighting episode. Although there was a tiny recap in the middle, the ending was superbly done; nice cliffhanger.

Ippo and Ricardo Martinez sparring? That would be an awesome fight to see. ^^

Ah man this match is pretty insane, one of the best ever in the whole Ippo series so far, the episodes of buildup leading up to it really helped as well. Even though I already know how it enRAB, im still really excited to see what happens next lol. Such a great show.

I heard the English Dubbed of Ippo was pretty horrible, so i guess sales weren't exactly ideal. Though its probably easiest to get this series as a pirate, as its pretty old and its from what i seen a Sleeper Hit. Its a shame it not as popular as One Piece to earn some credit.

I forget where i heard this (probably Wiki), but i think the New Challenger series is scheduled for 90 Episodes. I guess the studio is going safe, to see if people are still interested in Ippo before animating the whole thing (which i hope).

I'm really hoping for Takamura VS Hawk fight. The build up and the final locker scene where the boxers of Japan asked him to answer their prayers was really emotional. I'm not really looking forward to Itagaki's family and their pun-central.

Episode 24:

Climatic ending to this awesome match. I just loved the effects they included and the BGMs. Although taps more into the psychological side of things a tad more, still a very enjoyable watch nevertheless.

Watch it!

This show is one of the greatest of all time. I hope it lasts forever..

ep 24 was epic. I'm not quite sure why Takamura is a hawk all of a sudden.. wouldn't they have wanted to bill it, "The Hawk vs the Bear" instead of 2 hawks? Stupid bird costume I wanted to see the bearskin.

NOW he should wear the hawk costume though... Cuz first he killed the bear, then He killed the hawk! seeing Tak smash the dudes face into the ground was spectacular, then seeing him spit out a blood mist and fall into the ref as the whole gang was running in slow motion... put a lump in my throat it did

It was cool getting to see Sendo again..

Here's a question to those Hajime no Ippo fans:

Do you reckon Ippo, right now (remeraber to exclude any Manga interferances,) can challenge the for the OPBF? He is rivals with Miyata and he is a force to be reckoned with. However, on the other side, he has only defended in title once.

I reckon he is the great challenger-type boxer. Of course, being a champion is a nice addition, but being a challenger suits him better. He may not have that weighted fist of dreams, but he has the destructive power. ^^

I think he was billing himself as a Hawk to taunt Hawk. lol But I don't know. I guess he wore it to say he was going to slay a hawk. Kind of like how he wore the bear skin signifying him slaying a bear. But I would have rather him do that as well.

What an epic episode.

What I enjoy from reading Shounen manga is the state of progression in it. You beat one opponent, and then you move on to a stronger one; all along you have an eternal rival. The mangaka makes it as if Ippo is just close to unbeatable after first loss (which, in theory of Shounen, made him 'stronger'). Then, they slam down some character to make the readers realize 'Nope, he's still as weak as hell'.

Episode 5:

This is why I love Hajime no Ippo. Everything I described above happened in this episode. Ricardo Martinez is definitely a, no, the force to be reckoned with. Ippo was totally overwhelmed. I have to say, I'll enjoy the future RMartinez vs Date champion match. ^^
