Can anyone help me? There is no way I can get the "weird" screen in the phone holding the volume down, camera and on buttons.

I just can't get into flashing mode !!

hi guys think i'd just like to mention that within the next two weeks samsung will have firmware available on their website which should sort out even the music player problems. spoke to the techies there who are doing the firmware. it may even be as soon as tmoro but defo in the next two weeks

So what's XXFH7 like? Any comments? Wondering if it's worth flashing from XEHF3?

XEFH3 is great but I think it still tiny bit buggy and a tiny bit slow too.

Also has anone foudn out what the difference is between rc2 mid and low?

Hi Mistahk
You are saying I can get the firmware from the F480 but I cannot change it to the programmer format ?

If so what is it problem?
We are talking on reading the memory bit to bit and resend it bit to bit
(from the programmer point of view)

who build the programmer ?

(From another thread) This appears to be the latest firmware F480XXHF7

Just put it on mine.

hmm.. it's like you were trying to make a game instalation CD having only the game installed on your computer, or to better say, making a windows installation cd from installed widows only.. rather hard thing to do, there are 4 packages of firmware , all fo them are unpacked/decompressed, put into correct memory adresses and there is no way to "fold" them back.. no compilers and any other suport tools, as far as reading bit to bit and recording it back.. it's a nice idea, but thera are no programms to do that, and i doubt the phone would run.. there are some other samsung platforms like swift, agere etc. where you can do that without a problem, on quallcom i've never heard of anyone doing that, anyway you may try, maybe you'll be the first one who succeeds [;

I have the F488 version, it's the official Hong Kong version, this version also has the pixelized image like the rest of f/w, but when the image is transferred to the PC, the image are really sharp, as with most camera phone, indoor/dark image don't really come out good.

As for the F/w, I think it's quite fast, only if you dont listen to music and use the menu at the same time, otherwise you will see a lagg.

Well surely if its working then its ok? Try everything on it, text, internet etc.

What did you upgrade from (version) and to please?
and what improvements if any did you see?

Did you do the camera rewrite flash thing to?

A good question, Loc111 - I'd quite like to know the answer myself.
Just been on holiday, took loads of pics using the camera on my F480 and a lot of them are rubbish quality. Ones outdoors are mostly OK, but almost anything taken indoors is frequently out of focus and always very scratchy looking -and this is with the super-duper new XXHF7 firmware!

I really really hope there is some kind of decent upgrade coming for the F480 - especially for the useless camera!

Are you sure? is this going to be an offical Samsung firmware update for the F480? released by Samsung? with details on how to do it etc? Have they ever released official firmware for a Samsung mobile phone before? what version? what was the procedure? I cant find any

What are the probs your having with the music player please?

I was just about to have a go (altho a bit scared to!) on flashing my Tocco which is F480ADHD3 to the F7 version, but if this is the case will wait.

How did you talk to the techies? did you mention the camera probs etc?

hope this is true, will wait until its out if this is the case for the "official" firmware and operation from Samsung if so.

Flashed my Orange UK with the latest HK firmware too and I think it is slower if anything. Also the font is slightly different, presumably for the HK characters and it doesnt look so nice as the standard English firmware. Think im going to flash it back...
