Hi guys. I was reading all the thread and didn't find some firmware like mine. Mine is F48LUHHF1_1. I'm affraid of flash it with F480XXHF7 cause, like you say, is the best but it work for most Europe countries.

Does any one knows how to backup the actual firmware in my cell in case anything goes wrong? Would the F480XXHF7 work in my cell and my country?

Best regards,
Yoshi.

you won't find all, very often the branded ones are very hard to get, you have some of the fw at the begining of this thread

The menus feel the same for me. The good thing is I can see CJK id3 tags now yay

Also for english users, no T9. Dont understand why Samsung cant add english T9 to their chinese firmware

hi all, thanks for the links and tutorial

ive flashed my uk orange f480 with F480XXHD9 and all is good

i was just wondering which firmware is the newest on the list? im not too sure how the formatting works

I have a Tocco on O2 Uk contract. it has F480ADHD3 firmware on.

There is so many post about different firmware in this thread, can someone tell me which is the latest firmware please?

Also Im a bit scared of flashing it myself, as Im only 1 month into a 18month contract, what would happen if something went wrong with the flash procedure?

Can I not just email/phone Samsung direct and ask them to update the firmware because of a issue Im having (make one up?)

Does the new firmware defo sort out the probs documented around web on the phone? ie camera? slow menu?

cheers

Don't think so, I can't but I'm 100% sure theres another way of doing it, probably through some of the 'secret codes'

Thank you very much for your fast answer.
I just flashed it WITHOUT PROBLEMS.
I followed all directions from first post, but I used the picture from post #64 because first post picture is gone.
As you said I could set spanish language and also no problems with Movistar.
I only found one difference from installation procedure: it restarted by itself only once instead twice as directed in first post.
Thank you again.

samsung wont just give you the f/w, it will need to be on warranty, so they will flash it for you, as for the f/w most of them do contain multiply language, so that the same f/w can be used in a few countries.

Omnia has same F480 camera.
If you have any news that Omnia takes decent pictures accordingly to its 5Mpx camera it means our problem with F480 camera can be fixed via firmware.

Loc111, I'd never flashed a phone before and was only one month into an 18-month contract with T-Mobile, but following the instructions on this thread it worked exactly as described (I confess, I had sweaty palms while it was happening though!)
If anything does go wrong (which it won't!) then I'm fairly sure people here will do their best to help you, so long as you're polite to them.

I'm in the UK and installed firmware version F480XXHF7

Samsung don't seem to do much of anything as regards updating the firmware on their phones - what your phone comes with is what you're stuck with unless you do something about it yourself.
I used to have a Sony-Ericsson, and they were very good at providing, publicising and helping with firmware updates, so it was a surprise to find everyone else didn't do this as well. Oh, and T-Mobile told me they didn't upgrade Samsung phones on their network either. They seemed to be fine about you doing it yourself (didn't void the guarantee or anything), but they didn't get involved in that kind of thing.

The new firmware definitely helps out with the camera problems - the camera's still not perfect, but it's actually worth having now.
Sadly, there's no improvement on the slow moving menus in the music browser.

Hope this helps,
StuPC

Huge thanks to Flipje & nedooo.
For anyone else who had similar probs if you go back to WestHej's screengrab
I had to check to box which said Full Download and then press the Boot button and browse to the boot files which came along with the bin files as part of the firmware.
I then followed the instructions as per WestHej.

That was close there thought I'd bricked my new phone.

Thanks to all who tried to help.
PS. That was my first attempt at flashing - good to know people out there are willing to help.

Man this has made me stop thinking about it now. I dont wanna lose warranty on an 18month contract, just for flashing.

I looked for Samsung Service in UK and its a carphone warehouse store for me. I cant imagine for 1 minute if I waked into it and said flash this f=pls with newest firmware they would a) know how to and b) actually do it and c)take days and days to try and do it

mmmm now what...

Thank you westhej !!!

work great, camera has improved alot, pictures are actually in focus now.

the guide is very clear and simple to follow!

Can I ask you if you think it is better now? What has changed? (has the de branding of it made it better?)

What improvements has it given you? Or did you just want to unbrand it?

I have a UK D3 at the moment and am umming and ahhhing wether to flash it to the XXHF7 firmware at the moment.

I would love to hear from the updaters to what version they went from and to and ask what improvements they now have?

cheers

It worked perfectly, yes. That's the icing on the cake for my F480 now - not only does the camera work "properly" but everything else does, too.
Do you think I should ring T-Mobile and tell them how to fix this problem if anyone else rings them asking for help having flashed their phone?

Actually, something that rather surprised me was that T-Mobile were fine about me having flashed the firmware - I honestly thought they'd get a bit funny and refuse to help me at all because I'd deliberately "broken" the phone myself.

thanks for the guide!
okay I am seeing everyone is saying F480XXHF7 has improved camera quality....

I have to say mine hasn't improved at all since i flashed with HF7.

What could be wrong? Is everyone using mid. or low.?
