GUIDE: How to flash your F480 Tocco

I have no idea because I got my F480 yesterday. I could no use it enough time to compare behaviors.
I just read all 8 pages of this thread and the few things reported were enough for me to give new ROM a try.
 
HF7 is newer (and the latest I know of that's available for us to use).

H means 2008
F means June
7 is the version number for that month.
 
Someone has requested firmware F480XXHH1 on this forum as he has seen it on another F480. Anybody heard of this version or tried it out. Please add AAC tag support!
 
XX = Austria, Belgium, France, Germany, Hungary, Italy, Spain, Uk, nevertheless it rather should work

since it's got english and spanish at least no problems with language,
 
If you mean the shutter sound, yes it can be turned off via configuration menu. It also goes with with vol +/- buttons.
Red color balance problem seems to be gone.
Blur (out-of-focus) problem still here.

But after runnig option "2" of follwing test it seems to me to be better focused but I cannot say that for sure because I cannot go back to compare:

Press *#36287# key string in the dial screen to enter camera test mode -
[1] Auto focus [On] 
[2] ISP firmware write 
[3] ISP firmware version check 
[1] Press the "1" key to disable auto focus. In order to enable auto focus, press the "1" key again.
[2] Press the "2" key to write the ISP (Camera Module) firmware.
 
Ah I see so your supposed to click option 2 and leave it, then when it says "success" its safe to press confirm?

I take it you've tried to reflash it with XXHF7 FW again and the camera still no good?
 
Any news on the official Samsung firmware rumoured to be released in UK?

This thread has gone a bit quiet. I have F480ADHD3, wanted to flash, but got a bit scared about voiding warranty if I flash to the XXHF7 version, Im on contract O2 in UK
 
there are two ways,

the simplest:

flash your phone with only one file! .rc2 in low or mid version
it works perfectly with z400 since it's qualcomm, too
it should work here

.rc2 contains only starting picture so should be no problems of any phone data loss,

the telephone formats filesystem only when you flash it with .ffs and it's different from previous .ffs file!


there should be another way, as i wrote you shuld get to the admin menu, however, i've got no idea how to do it in f480,

in old qualcomm phones [eg. z400 that i have] you entered admin menu by typing *#3695147*# or any *#******x*# code [diff operss have diff codes] and then you could do many things, eg. change debug levels, change speaker volume etc.. but to do some things you needed two more codes one for accesing "internals" function another one to set "pre configuration"


when i was making z400 firmware mod i changed all of the codes to *#00*#
hovewer it's impossible to do that in new qualcomm phones because the company have changed system of compressing the files if there was anyone to find a way to decompress new rc1 rc2 and ffs files i could do a f480 mod too,

admin codes used to be stored in *.rc1 in admin.rsr file but no acces without proper decompiling/decompressing and compressing it correctly again

no there is no way to do a backup on qualcomm phone, at least there was no way with any model up to z400 or l760, you can do a memory dump though, but in a way it's useless cos you can't extract the files from it since they are unpacked, and to flash you need packed files

Ok its a no go for UK T9 usrs like me then.

Menus not faster what about the camera?

I really want a UK HG? version of the FW

Im on HD3 still at the mo

witch firmware is the best ?
I instaled F480XXHF7 and improved my camera quality but it still is a little blurry here is a sample picture

I heard that F488ZHHF1 is mutch better does anyone has that firmware ?
 
I am the autor of Aximizer, a Dell Axim X51v docking station for conetivity.
See here an example of using a WM device (X51v+Aximizer) VGAout capable (similar to Omnia TVout) as carputer (car-computer).

Believe it ot not, everithing you could see and read can be done with Omnia...
...just like any computer, just let your imagination fly

Sorry when you say you've found it, you mean on an orange phone? where is orange_IL please?

Is it available for download? is it branded software? ie have orange extras on?

Surely if there is a HG4 out, then there must be an unbranded HG4 out somewhere?

I have the new firmware XXHF7,it was Vodafone branded,no problems at all with G-mail or camera.
It show all Internet sites very quickly as Vodafone HSDPA has got the highest speed here in Holland.
Television no problem,even You Tube videos,streaming is exellent.
Camera,and video camera are working properly,its nice when you have a 8gig.msd.card inside you can record very long video .
Discussing the Low or Mid,I alway's use Low,I do not know what the difference is,but in the past with another Samsung U700 they alway's advised to take Low instead of Mid.

I also ordered a"Zagg" shield cover,on their site I will tell what it.s like.

Yeah I'm on a contract. I can't really see them checking the firmware very often if it does go faulty. I had a quick go with the camera and it didnt seem as blurry, but I don't intend on using it too often. All I was hoping for was AAC tag support so the bloody music player would work properly but no joy. Anyone know of a decent java music player? I tried KD player which looks great but it doesnt seem to read tags either and only version 0.8.6 works with the Tocco.
 
I said no secreet engineering menu in meaning of no meus for kepping flash track, there are menus of course to which I myself posted codes here on this forum, but these are different thing!



So same here, yes it is possible but this thread is about F480 so why mention other phones? it's useless, you can get firmware from the phone on other samsungs platforms swift, agere.. but not on qualcomm.. already wrote about it here and again this is f480 qualcomm thread..



if someone doesn't like to read forums it's his problem not mine..

I mentioned the last part to show you that free samsung fw on the net is not really broken or damaged
 
Oooppss! I am afraid Omnia does not have USB Host nor CF slot to add one, so no external USB touchscreen nor external HD nor USB memory, nor USB keyboard&mouse can be connected to it, sorry about this mistake.

There are WIFI external HDs and BT keyboard&mouse that still could be used but no way to connect extrenal touchscreen (no easy one).
