Great films that are hardly ever, if ever, shown on TV.

I've just downloaded The woman in black from a tv torrent site as it was a freebie this week, never heard about it until i read this thread
 
This really rings a bell. I was a huge kung fu fan and was too young to get into the likes of Bruce Lee films however if this is the film that I'm thinking of it was either an A or AA.

It was probably dire but had kung fu in the name so that was good enough for me.

Was it an Italian dubbed movie starring Terence Hill and Bud Spencer?
 
To Kill a Mocking Bird. One of my favourite films. I cannot remember the last time it was shown on TV. Of course, someone will now tell me it was on last week! :)

Freaks - a 1932 horror film. It was banned in many countries. In the UK it was not shown for over 30 years. Sadly there is no complete version of it left. 20+ minutes is apparently lost for ever - which includes key scenes of the "revenge" and a very different ending. What jabegy meant was that the film transfer quality to dvd is pretty poor.I still have my original recording of this film on vhs from the early 90's when BBC2 showed it.
 
Not seen 'The Last of Sheila' for ages and is only available on R1 DVD.

It does seem that the more channels there are, the less there is on to watch. C4 showed 'Stardust' last Sunday and then repeated it on Saturday just gone. ITV do the same as well. Have they run out of things to screen?
 
Thats an excellent eery film...they should show this to the people with their fingers on the nuculer buttons!..the ending is very shocking and thought provoking .........."waltz sing maltida "
 
Alison Anders, who has directed Sex and the City and 'The L Word' made a brilliant film called 'Mi Vida Loca' (My Crazy Life) in 1994 which is never shown on TV but is absolutely brilliant. It's about hispanic girl gangs in LA. It's only available as a US import on DVD too.

I can't find the OP you quoted but I've looked up this film as you've both intriuged me and I'd really like to see it! But...sadly that'll be difficult it seems....

I'd also really like to see Breaking Glass but its never been on the TV since I heard about it about 8 years ago.

I still have battered old VHS recordings of The Music Lovers, Savage Messiah from yonks ago, given that neither has ever materialised on DVD or even video in Widescreen. Ken is by an easy margin the most maligned/neglected still-alive 'well-known' director. Ostensibly there's an awful lot the establishment continue to actively refuse to forgive him for.
 
That was last on when I was about 18 and I was too scared to watch it! I did see it in the 80's late at night when I was a kid:eek:
I wish Moviedrome would come back! I love strange films and hate the garbage that comes out now.



It's on Film4 all the time.


I've read so much about Ken Russel and would love to see some of his films! Thye never show "The devils" but I saw it on BBC2 back ion the 90's
