Great films that are hardly ever, if ever, shown on TV.

Excellent film which I was just coming here to add myself.
I actually saw it in the cinema in 1988 on a very limited run.
However, I do remember it being on Sky Movies (Sky Movies Gold?) a few yrs back at some ungodly hour. I just caught the end of it.

Can I add True Romance (which i can only remember being on telly once, and a long time after it came out too)

and harold and maude too - i actually have never seen that but have been looking out for it for years.

Oh, and while I'm a it, I think it's a myth that It's A Wonderful Life gets regular showings. I don't think I've seen it playing on TV for quite a few years.

'The Funhouse'

An old Tobe Hooper movie about teenagers trapped in the funhouse at the fair.

It probably hasn't aged well but I remember it being surprisingly creepy (in a good way).

I agree about Coast to Coast...part of it was filmed where I grew up in Liverpool.

But Restless Natives, though not shown on tv, is most definitely available on DVD and has been for some time. I saw a copy only just the other day in HMV.

They haven't shown Labyrinth (David Bowie and Jennifer Connelly) for ages.

Loved that film as a kid.

Someone who doesn't wish to be identified bought the rights and according to Susan Hill, it won't be broadcast on TV again

However there is a remake coming courtesey of the reborn Hammer Horror

It makes me absolutely SEETHE that black and white films are basically shunned by those running the networks because they're probably snotty nosed kiRAB fresh off their media studies course, obsessed with marketing only to their fellow young. I grew up watching black and white movies in the afternoons with my grandmother and loved every moment. I've never been turned off by the concept of black and white and the broadcasters need to give viewers more credit. I'd imagine there is still enough of a fanbase for older films who would love to see the classics being aired respectfully again. Instead of trying to act like black and white films and TV never existed (don't get me started on colourisation!), why not try treating the audience like something other than hyper-active morons for a change? It would be nice to have something different occassionally and there are so many good old films that aren't seen nearly often enough.

The Philadelphia Experiment ! now that is a classic film based on a true story!...mind the sequel like alot of sequels dosent come anyway near the origional !
