Great film - awful ending

Great call on that one! I was so annoyed Spielberg

inexplicably bottled out on the son being dead

that I was left with a very bad taste in my mouth at the end.

The ending to Color of Money was very much an anti-climax.But perhaps it was the only possible ending they could do.

I thought the ending to Jeepers Creepers was a letdown.

I'd also say Saw V,mainly because they hyped it up so much as a huge twist ending, but it was fairly obvious...

Totally agree with you on that, i loved it up until that moment and then it became a film that you simply cannot watch again because the reward at the end is lost.

I doubt anyone would say that August Rush is a good film, its more one of those that you watch because you don't have to put much thought into it, but the ending is pathetic! It's completely stupid as to how both of them at the end "just know", i liked it up until then but it just got more ludicrous as it went on.

Jeepers Creepers-Was slightly ahhh till you found out it was a big bat monster then it was just eh

Mirrors-Pretty good film but crap ending.Just a bit wtf..

Hannibal. The first three quarters of the film very good. The last quarter less so.

The disparity between the ending of the novel and the ending of the movie is vast: namely:

In the novel, Hannibal drugs and mesmerizes Clarice and the two run away together as lovers.

In the film Clarice tricks Hannibal and he's forced to cut off his hand to escape, whilst she returns to the FBI.

The problem was, of course, that the novel's ending seemed so unpalatable and disturbing that you can understand why they felt the need to change it for the big screen and big audiences. But unfortunately, as much as the novel's ending repulses us at first, it seems like the natural conclusion to the whole saga. The film loses the whole chemistry and drama that was building up since The Silence of the Lambs.

Have to disagree there, I thought the ending of The Mist was pretty fantastic. He loses all hope, kills his family, just as rescue comes. Amazing.

Knowing gets my vote. I was in the cinema in a state of 'a good Nicholas Cage film, what's going on?', and then out came the f*cking aliens.

Good choice, I'd forgotten about that one.

The book's ending was definitely superior and the changing of it not only made for an unsatisfactory conclusion to the film but it also felt like a cop out to me.

only if you didnt understand it.

another one about AI "aliens"? you sure you weren't paying attention? it made perfect sense. there were no aliens. people hate on directors when they dumb things down but i guess some people need things spelled out for them;)

no country for old men
i am legend
shawn of the dead
that being said i don't think they were great. a bad ending sours it all for me. those stick in the mind more as let downs than great. just more like i expected something and it dropped the ball.

Titanic. It just didn't grab me.

Someone neeRAB to be brave and change things around a bit. Maybe the ship sinks a bit but everyone gets off except for a cage with monkeys in it.

Another water-based film with a bad ending, Jaws. Better if the shark had sunk a bit but lived and the shark cage had some drowned monkeys in it.

Drowning monkeys add ambience to any production. I hope the forthcoming apocalypse film 2012 has some...

Seven PounRAB

The ending was terrible due to blatant inaccuracy. Otherwise, pretty good, if totally depressing movie.

P.S. Totally agree about Titanic - except for the drowning monkeys suggestion. There was enough space on there for both of them - Could have had a smidgen of happy Hollywood ending amiRABt the floating dead people. On second thought, the whole throwing the necklace in the water scene would have been unecessary, Britney wouldn't have done it in her video, and then we wouldn't have John and Edward re-enacting it on the X Factor in what can only be described as the most excruciating-yet-hilarious piece of car-crash telly ever!

Hithcock's The Bird's. The first time I saw it on video, I thought there was about 20 minutes missing - They just walk through the flock then it just suddenly end's with no explanation of what happen's next.
