Government Could Fine BP $4,300 Per Oil Barrel Spilled Into Gulf

Fines must be handed out not the the toon of 6.2 billion dollars though. That is crazy.

This shit is easily one of the top natural disasters we all will ever live through.
 
Both sides can suck my ass - in this case it may be more Dems but in something else it would be the Republicans doing the same thing.

i don't think BP should be penalized to oblivion. i think they should reimburse the government for every dime it has spent, and they should continue to reimburse affected louisianans
 
Is there any evidence available to show the government isn't trying to get this done? I mean is there a map somewhere that shows the empty tankers around the world just sitting in port?
 
depends on if there's anything really to do to mitigate it. dragging crude tankers under contract through the gulf with booms behind them may or may not be more effective than outfitting shrimp boats with booms. none of us know for sure.

i do know, from considerable marine experience, that a larger boat does not do EVERY job better than a smaller boat(s). so all this conjecture is just a circle-jerk waste of time.

Except the normal citizen wouldn't see a goddamn dime of that money. Our taxes would probably still go up like always, while they find more stupid shit to waste our hard earned money.
 
never said that, but im not sticking up for our dumb fucking government who pretends they're helping the situation. it's nothing but a bunch of failed businessmen pencil pushers who loves to bully
 
while i agree with this, they could have been sending resources to mitigate the damage of the spill and clean up efforts, BP can then focus its effort on plugging the hole.
 
if they were in the gulf on shrimp boats you'd call them publicity seekers taking advantage of the situation and you know it
 
a *potential* problem with that is that BP's liability limitations have yet to be ironed out. so then you have congress hastily working on those details and l33tpilot and the rest of anti-obama crew get upset that congress is meddling

you pay to get the shit done as fast as possible, it will be far cheaper than having to deal with larger quantities of oil in the long run.
