if we're looking at a 4300 per barrel pay day...why would we try to stop that? Its like someone saying. I'll pay you $50 an hour to sleep, and then you setting an alarm clock for 30 minutes later. Doesnt make sense
As absurd as that is, downloading an mp3 from the internet still results in a higher fine.
Oops, slightly less. You get fined $2,500 per copyright infringement so that's fair - I guess this does slightly more damage than downloading a song but only slightly according to our politicians.
Look, I have no idea how complex it is to get a crude tanker to the gulf and retrofitted with the equipment necessary to start sucking up the oil plumes and surface oil.
How would the government go about doing this? I imagine companies that aren't BP aren't really inclined to let their tankers go empty.
im not either, but all i ever hear or read about is speculation on how much has spilled, speculation on how long (if ever) this cleanup process will take, congress "grilling" those bloodsucking oil execs, and now some $4,300 fine per speculated barrel that was pulled out of some legislator's ass. its a worthless fucking witch hunt, regardless party affiliation.
