They would just squander it. They are like people who are in boatloads of debt and win the lottery.
 
I love how people are trying to blame the federal governemnt for this leak not being fixed yet. This isn't Katrina, it's not about getting people food, water and medical attention. This is a mile below the water. The government doesn't have the equipment required to handle this shit, BP does.

Could you have imagined the uproar on both sides of the isle if Bush or Obama had asked congress for several billion dollars to "invest in equipment to fix an oil leak should this single ultra deep water rig fail?"

I might have given BP two weeks before I would have militarized the repair operations. subpoena any fucking body you need to get the job done and have ball busting marine general overseeing shit to cut the bullshit down to a minimum.
 
Man.... just saying but I already know of three jobs that are were told they have to wait the full 90 days now for permits. I am not surprised if it happens here too.
 
Not the physical drilling company or a production side like Exxon, Shell, BP, Conoco, etc.
 
so, the end result of this thread is that NOT EVEN ONE oter has an ounce of experience coordinating or performing oil spill cleanup, but we're all armchair quarterbacking the effort, amirite?
 
once again, grandstanding assholes - I bet they're happy as hell this shit happened so they have an excuse to push their agendas now
 
how about they use that money to build safer rigs, even better how about they use that money to create better programs for energy efficiency. if the government told them that you would have to build a better system to get oil or to build a more fuel efficient program. that would show a little sign that the government cares a little bit.
 
exactly, this is proof that our government are a bunch of fucking scumbags. they pretend to care, but in truth they just want their cut now. they are like the fucking mafia
 
I'm on board with that. Hopefully that is more or less what's actually happening on the ground.
