George and mildred

My friend speaks to Richard quite often, he's well and is still in great spirits. He has quit the business though.

I'm assuming you know he's had a stroke and other health problems?

I thought Friday's episode was bordering on the racist.

They had a Dr White who happened to be coloured.

Then George kept commenting on about his colour. Saying he felt sorry for his people about the crash helmet issue. I assume he was talking about Hindus and them having to wear turbans, even though the Dr was probably from Pakistan, or at least wasn't Hindu and he didn't have a turban on.

Then he mentioned how 'his type of people' have rhythm, as the doctor tapped on his back to check his breathing.

You wouldn't get that sort of thing now a days.

His character was the only one to return from Man About The House,so obviously the writers/producers realised they had another little gem there.

According to the story, the house they owned in Man About The House was compulsorily bought by the council. So it's presumed they received a tidy some of money, allowing them to go upmarket.

The landlorRAB in 'Man about the house' of course. They often stole the show even though they had very small parts..... (well george had according to mildred!!)

Also, what made me laugh was when Mildred got a job in the estate agents, and George came in to the office to tell her he had got a job, so she would have to hand in her notice. The two of them couldn,t have a job, someone had to stay home and do the housework. Seems really daft now:)

Finally got around to reading the recent OTB book and its terrible.
Basically its everything you can find on the IMDB for the cast and crew put down on paper.
I expected at least some kind of critique or some trivia for each episode but there was sod all.

The only bit of interest was details about the locations used for filming.

Waste of money.

You get writing the one we need :)

There is a book being done about Man About the House and George and Mildred but not robins nest for some reason. Read it on Yahoo last year, dunno when its due to be in shops or even if its still going - be good to read imo.

From what I've learnt, he seems perfectly healthy at the minute, but sadly he declines most interviews.
He did a commentry on the 2006 Carry on teacher dvd, but he (apparantly) declined appearing in a short "Me and My girl" sketch on that ITV show with Fearn Briton that I cant remember the name of! :o
He signs autographs through the mail, but alas he hasnt responded to any of the letters ive sent him re: interviews for the book.
