George and mildred

You're not too young at all. Good for you in giving it a shot.

I think they've got a couple of scripts and expense sheets, notes, that sort of thing. I know they have two aprons, one of which was found in a shop in London. I gather most of the on-set items are untraceable now as you say. They have cast interviews and viRAB that sort of thing and tons of memorabilia. Yootha's trousers were one oRAB, they must have been!

Glad Brian, Paula and some of the guest stars gave you their time. I wish you the best of luck with it, hope it does really well.

We should be thankful British DVRAB are uncut. Apparantly some American releases are hacked to bits.

Anything that is liable to spark a thought that may possibly, yet inprobably, nevertheless maybe perhaps cause the slightest teeniest bit of offence is shredded. I remember GOLD showing one foot in the grave... "Theres a load of midge(t)s in the bathroom"... that met the editors knife

So its odd that G&M didnt have "the slightly casually racist" scene with the doctor cut out.

And that total bastard MP Tom Pendry won a law case to have a stupid pink blob put permanently on ALL tapes copies of 'Rising Damp' because he was irritated that a gay MP in the episode 'Stand up and be Counted' dared to have a similar surname. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Rising_Damp#Libel_case Now that is totally disgusting.

Signed Tex (who is currently suing every American Oil Baron for inproper identity use)

Hadnt heard of that proposal, but I suppose it would give old Gordon Frown a revived chance to call everybody a bigot.

I cant abide people that slate vintage comedies with a 2010attitude. The whole point of them being "period" programmes is that it was long before this PC state. It happened in the past, there is no reason to pan it for eternity now.

That was also the argument behind Love thy Neighbour and Curry and Chips. Powell, Driver, Johnny Speight all said that the series were not meant to be racist, but to highlight the ignorance of British people against other cultures.

Whether that argument came across in the programmes is another story...

I like G&M but I'm surprised ITV3 didn't go for Man About the House which is better although I guess the sexual innuendo might be more pronounced than in G&M

Or perhaps they are too scared to show a series where the punchline to episode 1 is "I told him you were a poof" and where George checks out a woman who screams "He touched my bosoms"

Ahh , those were the days of quality peaktime comedy on ITV:)

There are loaRAB of ITV comedy classics I would like to see screened on ITV3! Perhaps ITV should launch its own version of G.O.L.D.?

ITV3 could be relaunched screening classic ITV comedy, and ITV4 could be relaunched screening classic ITV soaps and drama.

Some of the classic comedies I would like to see again include:

Never The Twain
Only When I Laugh
The Upper Hand
Please Sir!
The Two of Us
Second Thoughts

I could list plenty more! :)

Although I wasn't around when this first aired, I've seen every episode! I first saw it on Granada Plus, and really missed it when the channel ceased to exist.

Since then, my mum has bought the complete DVD collection --

I was never into Dick Turpin so I still recall ROS as Robin Tripp so the photo (thanks for that) makes me sad.

Is he healthy in both mind and body?

If he is , I would love to see an interview with him as he was such an important face on ITV for over a decade .

Many of the classic film series of the 60's have had documentaries made and the cast and crew have been interviewed and are made aware of the impact their shows have had on many people over the years.

The Thames comedies were largely over looked for a very long time as they were quite ordinary compared to the timeless classics the BBC often produced but in the last few years I think , rather like the Carry On films , they have changed from cheap filler to recognised classics .

I hope ROS and others are fully aware of the affection that many hold for the shows they appeared in.

They have both versions I think. If they have a spare I'll let you know!

If I'd known you were doing this could have had a word with them as they have a few contacts, but you did very well on your own.

Will keep checking the site. Thanks for the link:D

P.S Not wishing to hint but would love to see a Rising Damp companion;)

Love George and Mildred, but it always puzzles me how they could afford to buy that house in such a posh area, and Mildred has so many clothes, as well, considering their only income is a night watchman,s wage. I think that,s what George does anyway. It,s set in the same era as On The Buses, yet working class people like Stan and his family were always skint! Not so George and Mildred, did they win the pools, or something?

So can't wait until I get this on DVD. One of the reasons for getting this is for nostalgia purposes, and the other is because I love it as well. The way Mildred goes on with George is hilarious :D I actually wonder whether she still loved him or not. But yeah, very funny series indeed.
