Funimation's Valentine's Day/Blog Announcement License Thread

I can think of two reasons... well there are more than that but they do come in pairs.

It's a mediocre at best show that distracts the audience with boobs (but it's not all about boobs there's also hotpants, lolis, and D.Y.F.B. [Designated Yaoi Fan-girl Bait]).

It supposedly plays into the Gonzo stereotype for weak endings, but I haven't seen it. My attitude trenRAB negative based on what little I've read on it here and there, but we'll see.

Either way, there's also Druaga and Blassreiter, which are perfectly good works that also come from Gonzo. The first episode of Blassreiter impressed me a ways back. [strike]The protagonist[/strike] It focused a lot on this crippled racer that basically gets a new lease on life when he acquires his powers. It is an interesting premise.

Lets see.

My List of possible new licenses:

Nanoha StrikerS

The remaining seasons of The Familiar Of Zero

Sugar Sugar Rune

Rurabling Hearts OAV

Akane Maniax

Shuffle Memories

See ya!

Well it felt like the entire series was trying to pander to it's audience (without really trying to focus on one segment of fanboy/girl-dom); and it panders very poorly.

The contributors over at TVTropes.org are going to have a field day with this series.

Lance hinted that there might be more than one show announced up at the convention over at AnimeonDVD's Forums. Doesn't exactly narrow anything down, since he didn't give us any hints to go on.

Toradora right? Pleassse. Sayonara Zetsubou Sensei (but you have to translate all the text) or Love Com. Oh or the second Higurashi season. That would be an amusing gift. Oh I can't wait

FUNimation has both Towers of Druaga and Blassreiter? That's great that the Gonzo Crunchyroll simulcasts are starting to be licensed. Hopefully they get Linebarrels of Iron soon. Since they got Aegis of Uruk, it makes sense that they got Sword of Uruk, but still, only 6 episodes of Sword have aired so far. Then again, licensing series after an episode or two, or even before, isn't unheard of at these times. What's ironic is that FUNimation is licensing the first series that were simulcasted on Crunchyroll, yet they're also the only company that won't do any business with Crunchyroll. Anyway, great news, and I hope to see these dubbed later this year. Time to work on some fantasy casts.

I doubt they get Skip Beat. Viz has the manga already and if it get popular enough of crunch roll they're going to be all over it.
Viz doesn't seem to care about love com though so I think Funimation could get that easily.
