FUNimation Licensing Blitz Coming

If he doesn't wanna see Soul Eater, that's his decision. I mean there have been some anime that I didn't care about and then I started to like them i.e. Ouran High School Host Club, Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya (I'm still a bit 'meh' about it), Welcome to the N.H.K., Potemayo, and Neon Genesis Evangelion.

Man, Last Exile was always getting the shaft. It got caught right in the middle of the G4 buyout of TechTV, and was summarily killed off, and then the license. Glad someone has it.

I too am very evil as I do the same thing. However, ever since the one piece dvd's came out, I find myself watching FUNi's dubs more and more and completely forgetting to watch the original version. The dubs are...just...so...good.

I wonder if at some point FUNi will license titles Viz never gave a chance *coughprinceoftenniscough*

Although I hope they get Gintama.

Sorta offtopic, but I've been thinking. Could FUNi potentially even get Soul Reaper to air on TV? It seems like their perfect new show that has that chance. Maybe Sci Fi or maybe even CN/AS would be interested in airing it?

Ofcourse they will, 4KiRAB never dubbed Slayers. The reason the Pokemon cast was replace was that 4KiRAB puts clauses in their contracts that prevent their VAs from voicing the same characters for a competitor (provided that the character has more than tertiary value). 4KiRAB was never involved with Slayers, so it won't be like that.

It'd be nice if FUNi would rescue wasted Viz titles but I don't presume they will be doing that.

There's one Geneon title that would really be great for FUNi to nab... Lupin the 3rd. If they did that much craps would be had in pants by the respective public.

FUNi does have the rights to a few of the Lupin movies, so it wouldn't be a surprise to me if they did. Another one that wouldn't be a surprise to me is the rest of Tenchi Muyo! I doubt they will do either of those this time around though. If they did so, it'd be a complete surprise since none of their hints hint at them.

They can't rescue a license that hasn't expired. Viz Media still has the full license to Prince of Tennis. Unless the original company strips it from Viz, then FUNi would have to buy the contract from Viz Media.

As for todays announcement- I saw one box of Gad Guard roughly 5 years ago, and it looked interesting, but I didn't want to spend the $30 to buy it, especially since it had 4 episodes only. Hopefully FUNi will release the entire series in just a box set, since it's 13 episodes, and the price will be more reasonable than Geneon's was, so I'll get it this time for sure.

Nah, I rather let it be on DVD only and online streaming service.

CN hasn't been good with Funi after they lost One Piece. Sci-Fi is pretty much releasing stuff from Manga Entertainment and Bandai Entertainment so I don't think they would give in to Funi. If they do, Soul Eater better be at an hour when I can stay awake for.

Actually, you could technically say Slayers was dubbed by 4KiRAB, because it had the same localization team that now currently works for 4KiRAB. But yes, it was dubbed at TAJ and wasn't associated with 4KiRAB at all. Not sure why people think voice actors can't do work at multiple studios... It's quite common.

Announcer's voice: MEANWHILE, AT THE LEGION OF DOOM otherwise known as FUNimation Entertainment

Hooded Figure: How long until the plans are completed
(4 people are kneeling before the figure)
Vic Migonna: Sir, it is almost a matter of time before we soon obtain most of the most awesome anime in existence. My fangirls will buy anything I tell them too.
Scott McNeil: Our worRAB are spreading throughout the Internet with the help of the FUNimation update quickie. Soon, more and more people will see how awesome our company is compared to the other loser ones like *giggles*4KiRAB(all break out in laughter)
Hooded Figure: *chuckles* Yes, yes, watching Al Kahn beg on his hanRAB and knees to ask us to distribute Yu-Gi-Oh was quite a sight but as for the plan...
Colleen Clinkenbeard: (wearing evil dominatrix clothes) Our licenses are growing ever stronger. With the acquisiton of "Last Exile more and more fans are realizing the awesomeness of our company even in these troubling times.
Christopher Sabat: And with my voice as the head as some of the most powerful and influential anime series, the world will soon completely know our names.
Hooded figure: (stanRAB up) Then, humanity is ours. (looks out the window) Soon we will become the most influential name in anime forcing people to buy our stuff and then, we shall rule...THE ANIME WORLD.(evil laughter) Isn't that right my flunky
Kahn: Oh...yes...master...yes you will rule all of the anime world. Please don't cease distribution with us
Hooded figure: Now go! Bring me more acquisitions. With the coming of Soul Eater and Eva 1.0, our takeover shall be glorious.
(they leave, hooded figure takes off hood)
Eric Stuart: Ah, I love this job.

And that's exactly what's happening.

And the license for today is...

Samurai Champloo
http://www2.funimation.com/samuraichamploo/

I really wanted to see that show so that's great.

But... where's EVA ... and Soul Eater...

Yeah, that's a running joke. He hates that about himself. In fact, if someone brings it up even in a life-or-death battle he'll go into auto-depression/ranting mode.
