i agree, Gael Bernal is Hot! :hotpinkie: :rotfl:

i want to see motorcycle diaries too....

and i liked "The Virgin Suicides".... it was just sad though. :(

The last foreign film I saw was probably Vodka Lemon. I think it was from Czech Republic but I could be wrong...it was subtely funny in a bittersweet sort of way.

I love Run Lola Run (Lola Rennt), it's definitely one of my fav foreign films. I want to check Dirty Pretty Things too when I get the chance.

Now I know why... What a great film! I was impressed from the get go. I'm just in awe. Thumbs up! It was original, quiet, beautiful and so charming. I'm ga ga. Vivian Wu was perfect!

I adore Italian for Beginners and Life is Beautiful. I recently watched a French movie called Bleu which I enjoyed - it was very sad, and somewhat confusing, but beautifully made.

hi.....i saw 'lola rennt' in a theater when it first came came out in the united states.....in a way in kind of reminded of a music video the way it was shot.....it also reminded me of an acid trip on speed...only kidding...
smile.gif
...what i really liked about it was it's frantic energy...it's pace...the same reason i liked a film like 'moulin rouge'.....for it's energy.....

the only other german film that i've seen with moritz bleibtreu in it is 'das experiment' once again in a theater.....i liked this film as well....snoypsis below....

"The movie is based on the infamous "Stanford Prison Experiment" conducted in 1971. A makeshift prison is set up in a research lab, complete with cells, bars and surveillance cameras. For two weeks 20 male participants are hired to play prisoners and guards. The 'prisoners' are locked up and have to follow seemingly mild rules, and the 'guards' are told simply to retain order without using physical violence. Everybody is free to quit at any time, thereby forfeiting payment. In the beginning the mood between both groups is insecure and rather emphatic. But soon quarrels arise and the wardens employ ever more drastic sanctions to confirm their authority."

2 others german films that i've seen by tom tykwer are....'der krieger und die kaiserin'....and
'winterschl

Me too!
I loved all Amenabar movies that I've seen so far. I think he's a great director.

Last week, I saw La Strada, a film by Federico Fellini. It's a 1954 movie and I loved it tremendously. I had never seen a Fellini movie before and I have to say I was impressed. The actress Giulietta Masina was also wonderful. I can't wait to see other movies by Fellini.
Here's a link to know more about
La Strada.

mukooh - i agree with the subtitles shouldn't holding back your watching of a movie. there's so much great movies out there we need to explore!

oh, and i also liked Whale Rider - that was a really good movie!

I liked El Crimen del Padre Amaro better than Y Tu Mama Tambien. I thought it had more substance.

Here in Manila, there's an International Film Festival going on right now. I watched Girl With A Pearl Earring (Luxembourg/UK) and Reconstruction (Denmark(?)) over the weekend. I wanna watch City of God and Osama.

Yes, it is. ;)

I like good american movies. "American Beauty", "Matrix", "Magnolia", "Forrest Gump" are great movies.
I also like the classics: movies with James Stewart, Cary Grant and Audrey Hepburn.

Those are some great Danish dogme movies! If you like this kind of movies you should also try to see the Danish "Forbrydelser"(Crimes), which is also a dogme movie, that is really great if you ask us!

Though they're not foreign for us, we can recommend all Danish movies! Some of our favourite movies are Danish, and they're really great! Some of them are "En Kort, En Lang"(A short, a long) and "Blinkende Lygter"(Blinking Lights)!

The only foreign movie that we kinda like, that isn't Danish or American/English is F-u-c-k-ing

i subtitle fluently......i've never been bothered by reading them....most of the time i'm not even aware that i'm doing it....there are so many good and wonderful films that are being made throughout the world today....as well as in the past......films that have been made in languages other than english or made in america for that matter.....while i've seen films from mostly every country in the world.....and i'm not partial to any particular one country.....i kind of think that the french and the iranians are some of the best filmmakers in the world today.....please don't let a little thing like subtitles hold you back from watching a film.............imo your missing out on watching some excellent films, directors, actors and actresses............

Wow, I'm glad to find so many responders!!!

I haven't seen many foreign films... the only ones that I've seen in the past year are:

Decalage horaire
- starred Juliette Binoche and Jean Reno (who are both fabulous)
- but wasn't a great movie
- it wasn't terrible but it wasn't very interesting either

Zhou Yu's Train
- great acting by Gong Li
- but very confusing plot - b/c of time manipulation
- strange cinematography for some scenes
- was perplexed as to what really happened by the end

I loved Amelie and Life is Beautiful too!!!

First...YES!!!....go to Blockbuster RIGHT NOW!!!...hhahaajahaha!!!

And second...yes..i'm such a fan of good american movies...i'm from Chile so we have american movies coming all the time...the last one i saw was "The Punisher"...i'm not such a huge action fan, but it was very good...
Legends of the fall...that's a very good one i think...
Brave heart, Philadelphia, Forrest Gump, Matrix....and so much more...

i've seen the trailer a number of times in theaters.....it's being released here under the title....'the sea inside'.....i can't wait to see it.....ita about javier.....
