It's rare for me to cry while watching a film but a recent viewing of 'Martyrs' reduced me to tears. The relentless violence and utter hopelessness of the main character was painful to watch.

I stuck with it until the end, hoping for an outcome that would at least attempt to explain the reasoning behind the ordeal. I found the ending unconvincing and I felt the director had no real justification for making the film.
