Favourite Line in a Film

Thanks for the link, Socha. This is the shooting script - the ones I found before must have been first drafts.
I didn't realise that Charlie Kaufman had written a script for A Scanner Darkly - I'll look forward to reading it. I loved the Richard Linklater adaptation of the book (pretty faithful to the actual book except for one twist that was approved by PKD's daughter), so it'll be interesting to see how Kaufman's script differs.

So... some quotes from A Scanner Darkly:

Fred: What does a scanner see? Into the head? Down into the heart? Does it see into me? Into us? Clearly or darkly? I hope it sees clearly because I can't any longer see into myself. I see only murk. I hope for everyone's sake the scanners do better, because if the scanner sees only darkly the way I do, then I'm cursed and cursed again.

Barris: Gentlemen, you are about to witness for approximately sixty-one cents, the perfect homemade silencer.
[gun goes off, loudly]
Freck: That sure is some silencer.

Fred: I saw death rising from the earth, from the ground itself, in one blue field.
[picks up a blue flower]
A present for my frienRAB... at Thanksgiving.

Wonderful film...

From Roadhouse...

Red Webster: How long are you gonna be in town?

Dalton: Not very long.

Red Webster: That's what I said 25 years ago.

Dalton: Really? What happened?

Red Webster: I got married to an ugly woman. Don't ever do that. It just takes the energy right out of you. She left me, though. Found somebody even uglier than she was. That's life. Who can explain it?

:D

The most memorable lines for me are from comedy films, I very rarely remember anything from drama, or anything else. It would have to be something from Spinal Tap or The Python films, but this is my favourite line/dialogue of anything. From Spinal Tap:

*Tufnell playing melody on piano.*
Marty DiBergi: It's very pretty.
Nigel Tufnel: Yeah, I've been fooling around with it for a few months.
Marty DiBergi: It's a bit of a departure from what you normally play.
Nigel Tufnel: It's part of a trilogy, a musical trilogy I'm working on in D minor which is the saddest of all keys, I find. People weep instantly when they hear it, and I don't know why.
Marty DiBergi: It's very nice.
Nigel Tufnel: You know, just simple lines intertwining, you know, very much like - I'm really influenced by Mozart and Bach, and it's sort of in between those, really. It's like a Mach piece, really. It's sort of...
Marty DiBergi: What do you call this?
Nigel Tufnel: Well, this piece is called "Lick My Love Pump".

:D
