Family Guy - "Jerome is the New Black" - Talkback [11/22]

Man you are so confrontational. We just don't like Lois's personality because it's too outrageous there is no edge with Lois she's just a slut and they're using that as an excuse to make Lois a prominent part of Family Guy to make her funny. Your acting as if our opinions are the most lousiest piece of garbage and yours are the highest above all.

I liked the episode LOL Poor Brian getting hit hard by Quagmire Oh man. Still that was a fantastic moment :p Yah I liked the episode. Funny bits LOL No one even saying Meg's name, where was she?

Yeah niether do I it just irks me the extremes they go to put her in the ranks of the three funniest people in the show. Things she does like making fun of someone so maliciously with no remorse, Meg bashing when she fights for her, and just being so trampy with men i mean it was cute with Kiss but with others it just comes off wrong. It would be ok for something like Francine because we've seen and established that's she's a party girl, but we've seen Lois's personality played better than that and shouldn't be ran back to so often or outrageously so she can be a breakout character.

Hilarious episode along with the unexpected huge nice Brian bashing,

The highlights:
Sammy Davis Jr.'s appearance of the Rat Pack.
Stantler without Waldorf, hehehe, I love the Muppets jokes.
Peter wanting a 4th friend to replace Cleveland.
Quagmire chasing the tiny little man for his Lucky Charms:p, hahahaha.
Peter mentioning about Quagmire hating Brian, I wonder why, hehehe.
The London Gentleman's Club, hahahahaha.
I like the new black character Jerome, he's cool.
The York Peppermint Patty joke, hahahahaha.
Lois knowing Jerome who turns out to be an old boyfriend of hers.
I find it entertaining with Peter becoming a giant jerkwad jealous of his wife's old boyfriends.
Peter/Lois squirting each other on rams.
Stewie mentioning Chris Farley's sad death.
The abusive jerk boyfriend beating Quagmire's sister in Quagmire's house was hilarious.
The Apple Spinning Beach Ball in the kitchen, hahahaha.
Peter bashing Joe's parrot, hehehe.
Don Knott's character Ralph Furley's appearance:D, hahahahaha.
Stewie at the fat womens' office.
The Lois & Clark with the map-ripping guy joke, hehehe.
Peter the mega racist jerk being the Ku Klux Klan, he went too far, poor Jerome, way to go Peter.
Quagmire totally DESTROYING Brian for his liberalism was AWESOME:eek::D, GO QUAGMIRE, but poor Brian though, hehehe, which most of the Family Guy fans loved that scene, & I hope Haley gets her bashing for her liberalism as well.
When Quagmire left, Brian didn't looked shocked, weird.
Peter apologizing to Jerome was great which some jerkoff characters besides Peter would learn their lessons.
Peter doesn't care about Meg=awesome!!!!!
The Brian/Stewie scene was touching/great along with Brian's farting, hehehe.

So funny of Seth to bash on his own character, hahahahaha, but he did Quagmire's rant so perfectly.

Well, Peter doesn't let Quagmire stay at his house for free.

The abusive husband joke may have been tasteless, but it was the funniest part of the episode. "Yeah, his brother is deaf, how could you be so insensitive!" "Yeah." "Shut up *****!"

I just don't understand how Family Guy can be so consistently funny whereas The Cleveland Show and American Dad are dull week after week.

That's the only thing I find a hypocritical about Lois.
In one episode when she talks about defending Meg "I'm like a hawk. Mess with one of my babies and I'll claw your CLEVELAND eyes out! Oh cookies are done!

And now she bashed Meg.

That's about it really.

On Fox, no less. If the PTC doesn't breathe fire about this one, they're completely asleep.

Other than Quagmire's epic Brian Bash (which was SO satisfying, geez), this episode didn't work. Most of the gags were tasteless and awful, not to mention predictable.

I just saw the episode...

I liked the "Statler without Waldorf" cutaway "Hey,without the other guy yapping in my ear, these guys aren't half bad!" ...I like their "Muppet" references, for the most part....

The "Peter thinks a KKK outfit is a ghost one" joke's been done before, but it still made me laugh...

Quagmire hates Brian, and Brian's attempts to make friends all backfire on him, leading up to an awesome rant by Quagmire...Pretty much covered all the problems I have with Brian (my main ones being he acts like he's smarter than everyone around him when he's really not,and he's an athiest despite the fact that God and Jesus are shown to exist in the Family Guy universe)....Quagmire's a major perv and can be a jerk, but at least he's upfront about it...

Yeah. I wondered if they're will be future interactions between Quagmire & Brian, causing them to maybe grow on each other. Keep in mind, Stewie really didn't care for Brian much at first either. This could be something that could gradually change. But I don't know. Like I said before, how often do the two of them interact in the first place? Hmmm.

People offended by the abusive boyfriend bit missed the point. It wasn't a "joke" in the sense that they were making light of abuse; its only purpose was to make the situation as awkward as possible for Brian.

Brian got served in one rant, but Quagmire (I think) isn't much better. To begin with, Quagmire has probably dozens of unattended children, (most likely) given several people God-knows how many STDs, and commits taboo acts (at least based on today's society). I am pretty sure this has been brought up in at least one episode.

Sorry for sounding dumb, but that is my view.

I still want my Quagmire- Herbert confrontation....

I don't see the anti-Brian rant as being anti-liberal. To a degree that's part of it but I see the actual point being against hypocritical pseudo intelectuals. I think turning it into a simple case of 'left vs right' misses the point greatly. Brian's supposed political leanings are only part of the faults Quagmire found with him.

Thank you! It was a slam against the character at large. In addition to all the other criticism, the lines about sponging off of Peter and Brian's lack of activity in particular point to a pretty rough criticism of Brian as a do-nothing idealist.

Eh, two problems with this. First, the anti-change charge is way too broad. Exhibit A: I agree that Lois devolved as a character, but I'm at home with Cleveland leaving the show. The season turned it into a positive with the recurring issue of Peter's group trying to fill the gap he left behind. On that count, so far change is good. So much for anti-change! Second, you seem to be implying that change and progression for Lois involves her becoming more similar to all the other deviants on the show. You have some work to do if you want to convince me and others that homogenization is change we should get behind. On top of that, people have argued that Peter has changed for the worse on this count as well.

I just rewatched the episode a few minutes ago, and after watching the credits sequence again... Does anybody feel a genuine sense of... sympathy toward Brian at that part? I dunno, for all his derailments as a character for the past few seasons, this denouement just reminded me that Brian still has a vestige of what made him... a person so to speak, how he could still get hurt personally like that. It's a rather touching scene in some sense, akin to the final moments in "Brian: Portrait of a Dog".

Whether or not this will spell a change for Brian (I doubt it really), it was just a really nice scene.
