Expressvu price increase

Sad thing with this is that there will be subs that will come out and still say that it is a good deal... :)

Tv entertainement what a big rip off it is...

And what of Rogers Cable? BEV maybe in the RED but so is Rogers and at least BEV is not in a Billion dollar debtr like Rogers is, Whenn wil Rogers raise there prices?

Having seen both MC and TMN, I can speak to that......we're getting screwed with MC. The last season of Curb Your Enthusiasm, for example - aired a little late on TMN....never even made it to MC.
And then there's also the pretty-much hard-core pr0n on one of the TMN channels after 11pm a few days a week :).

the CSR was probably not made aware of the changes...we still haven't been informed of these changes yet, and like anything, everything can still be changed last minute.

Who cares..

Good for him for posting it.. ( if it is no BS and turns out to be true of course.. which i am sure somehow will be true.. not long to wait to find out anyhow ;) )

I for one would not mind and appreciate knowing something like that in advance instead of later on...
What's the difference.. lol - at least this way we have something to talk and gossip about :D

Besides - according to his info - if you buy more.. - you will not feel the increase.. - i guess EVU wants to try and suck up more money out of people one way or another... ( it's not like buying meat in BULK anyhow.. - you don't have to put 'em channels on the scale after all :p )

They know what they are doing.... ;-)

Thanks FortMacDude. I hope you are right. I wouldn't mind seeing something in writting though from Bell that tells me it will only be a $2 price increase. I was hoping I missed something on the pricelist.

You did notice that those 2 packages dont include the Hd channels in the price. so add $10 and your back to $78.

Thing is how many channels do most people actually watch, 7 -15, yet they seem to divide them in such a way you need 6 theme packs to get them...

If you click on this link

http://www.bell.ca/media/en/all_regions/pdf/television/promotions/price.pdf

then click on the account you have there is a faq, from what I read if you keep the same amount of themes you wont be charged the new price, as well if you swap one theme for the other you wont.

its only if you remove or add more themes will the new price kick in, so if you are interested in more theme's I would add them before sept 30.

That's what I thought too, Orlando. I'm going to go with what we have in print, rather than the word of a CSR.

A few thing differnet that I just noticed:
- If you have 5 or more theme packs, you get Bell Magazine for free now. (Whoopde- ficken doo!) (Edit: Bunkhouse beat me to it.)
- CBC, CTV and SRC HD channels are now part of the digital standard for $27

The other side of the coin,

Although an increase of this magnitude does suck and I don't like to part with money anymore than anyone else the fact still remains that we pay less for our programming than our US neighbours do.

Crispy

Err...Rogers just raised their rates in June...

Not that I'm justifying EVu's price hike in any way, shape or form!

You are comparing Apples and Oranges as someone else already posted.

I find amusing the denial of some posts here that want to continue to believe that this is just a rumour and turn out to not be true. :)

Knowing Evu I think it is very pausible.

Better brace yourselves for it... :(

The thing with that is, what if I do want to make changes? One of the advantages with digital like what Bell offers is I can change my packages. I often take less in the summer, and then more in the winter. They are forcing me into another "grandfathered" package; where I can't make any changes or else I will be facing another rate hike. $2 increase; I can live with that- it's inflation.

I just don't like how every fall I have to make a permanent decision as to what my TV watching will be. I probably should have never gotten rid of my grandfathered package that I took last fall.

If you don't like it, don't pay it.

Every company has the right to change their rates. It happens all the time.

For me, when my package finally gets the increase, I will unsubscribe to Lifestyle 1 so my bill remains the same. I set a budget for Expressvu and will only pay that amount.

Just to be clear... customers have received notifications in the mail, but the employees have not been advised and therefore cannot assist customers with anything relating to the increase?

I sent the following email to Bell yesterday:
Hello. I heared a rumour that Expressvu service was going to increase on September 30th; that basic programming would go from $25 to $27, and the theme packs would be going from $5 to $8 each. Would you be able to confirm this for me, or provide me with some additional information. Thanks. Ken0042

This is the response I received from them this morning:

Of course, it is still possible that the CSR who responded to my email was mis-informed, however I will stick with what I have in writing from Bell for now.
