If The Jump to Live problem is that when you're watching a PVR recorded show and at the same point of the show it is jumping to live signal meaning that you can't watch the show... I have this problem on one show I recorded. Can't watch the end of the show, after 30min, it stops even if the show seems to be all recorded. I have a 9242.

Major problem :
1 - Audio drops out mostly on TVA HD but less frequent on other HD channel
2 - The problem describe above that me be refeered as "Jump To Live" Bug

LOL, I knew i came here for the entertainment value.....

I saw the big ugly sticker and quickly found something to put on top. I suspect the sticker was put there by the manufacturer, not by Bell.

CC, what settings are you using on your SD tV to watch the HD feeds, I find all of them ZOOM, Partial ZOOM, NORMAL, FULL,...alll seem to be distorted too much for my liking. Do you change the output of the recevier to 4:3?

After being an owner for 14 days of the 9242, going through a call to support everyday during that time period and having 3 technicians in, I have not only cancelled my HD contract but also all BEV (& Mobility, Sympatico and Housephone). To my suprise I was never met with any resistance or offers to keep a loyal customer of 15+ years. Goes to say a lot about BCE right now.

Now I'm off to find providers for all of them.

The variations on this theme seem infinite. Calls to BEV produce more BS than any person should have to deal with. If I thought replacing the unit would solve the audio drop out issue, I would - but I am just not convinced. 9200s had the problem but the change to 9242s changed little. Some owners have the problem - some don't. I wish we could organize a matrix showing which connections or combinations generate this issue.
Does anyone know of a splitter that would take the hdmi output and give me a digital feed (optical or coax) for my A/V ?

Hello I am new to this forum so please forgive me if I posted something already discussed, I could not find it. When I record shows sometimes, it will not always record the whole show it will cut out in the middle of the program etc. Does anyone know why. I have the latest software.

Mike H, thanks.

I can assure u then that even if it's activated... you'll have the 5-7 sec delay...

I think we will have to deal with the long delay !!!

if you switch between 2 channel during a program and those channel are always the same... put the 9242 into monomode and use the swap btn to switch from tuner 1 to tuner 2... it's the quickest way to switch channel ! even faster than regular TV ! hehehe.

is there anyway' to get the second tv working without running a cable? the guide and manual say's something about over the air to the 2nd tv? anyone try it with success?
Where I live it's really hard to run extra cables this is why I'm asking.

My SDTV does not have a setting to change aspect ratio. It is just a heavy and bulky 4:3 flat screen CRT TV.

On the receiver, TV2 will always output a 4:3 image, the only changes you can make to the TV2 aspect ratio is when you are watching an HD channel, if you press the "*" button you can select "Normal" or "Letterbox". On a SD channel the "*" button won't do anything.

First time I fired up the TV2 tuner, I tuned up an HD channel and then changed the aspect ratio to "Letterbox". Once you go back to a SD channel it will default back to "Normal" automatically, however the receiver will always switch to "Letterbox" automatically if you select an HD channel.

I got mine working with just one line coming in, the only difference is that I cannot record a different program then what I'm already watching. We really don't want to run a third line into our house, so I'm fine with what I have for now. I'll see what happens later.

They have been arriving since day one.....lol

Some even have the Dish Remotes in the box's....lol

Found one with scratches and coffee cup stains on the case too.

Nothing surprises me anymore.....

Strangest error yet on 9242

This is just plain odd.

Technician activates the 9242, leave Mr. in the lounge watching City TV HD, he runs off to hook up the Remote TV from Tuner 2's SD Coax output. No problems, he finds the Screen Saver, bouncing around on Channel 60. Sets up the TV returns downstairs, confirms the Remote control actually works Tuner 2. Customer is very happy.

Technician goes with Customer to Remote TV location to show him that all is working just fine, he tunes to the same channel as they were watching in the Lounge....."This is a Subscription Channel, call Express Vu to Authorize it", or whatever it says.....

Odd, works on Tuner 1 HD but not on Tuner 2 in SD....hmmmmm

Tries every channel on Tuner 2, all are the same, NONE are authorised.......

He spends almost an hour on the phone with Express Vu, after asking me and I was stumped. Express Vu tell him the receiver is defective, and that the customer now has to call in for a replacement.....Standard Practice. I say this is BS, tell him to install second 9242 I will take the heat, second unit worked perfectly.

I since talked to a Level 3 Tech at Express Vu who tells me and please do not shoot the messenger but he says the 9242 has 2 different Smart-card (chip) numbers tied to the receiver Number. First time I have heard of this build configuration at all, may be BS but still a very odd problem.

I thought it was a unique problem but just got off the phone with an Installation Company in Quebec, they have had 3 of these now.... So it looks like we, Express Vu Customers could be the beta testers for a new breed of receiver build configuration......

I posted a couple weeks ago about my 9242 not recording the full program, Over the past two weeks it's only recorded Half of ( American Gladiators on the NBCHE ) 2 times over two weeks, Tonight both , American Idol ( FOXHE ) and Law and Order ( NBCHE ) did the same thing. I've deleted all of my recievers programs set for recording from the PVRs memory and changed them from New programs to Weekly to record on different channels at a new timeslot to see if that affects anything? It's so strange I don't know if it's one of the Tuners or a certain Timeslot as everytime I record the later channel after I realize it's incomplete there isn't a problem.

I'm not using the reciever at all in some of the instances.

On december 11 2007, I bought a 9242 receiver at FS. Since, BEV replaced the unit 4 times: each one had a different problem : Smartcard (error 349), fatal error on Hard Disk, unit freezing continuously and no picture at all with the last one: just the front panel light flashing.... The last 9242 I received one week ago seems to work properly. The postmaster told me she had a lot of returns of BEV boxes. Hope the last one will be the good one.

Sheila, I don't think you can compare the expressvu (Dish) hardware of today to the DirecTV (Sony) hardware of 10 years ago.

There was no such thing as HD back then, there weren't so many satelites, or channels and there was not such thing as a PVR. Dish's first PVR was a JVC/Dish combo with VHS tape. They've come a long way since then.

And whoever told/sold you on 1080p must have been confused or lied to you. 1080p is a BD & HD-DVD standard. Was never meant to be a broadcast standard. 1080p TV's will "Upconvert" to the native display resolution.

Splitters are not the way to do it. If you really need to go to one cable, you can spend money on DPP.

How did they help you fix the sync issue?

Default Look at the positive...
Lets look at he positive, at least they fixed my lip sync problem. I will be calling this evening to get a credit on my rental for the next month.

Not that I did it , but you can swap the drive from your 9200 into your 9242 to watch your old recordings, as well as maintain the timers. You do sacrifice some drive space though (9242 = 320GB. 9200 = 250 GB)

Are those with the audio drop issues using DPP perhaps? Seems some get them and other don't.

Hi,
I have had mine for a month or so now - works perfectly. I have a very simple set up with the two feeds coming on a short run right into the room with the 9242, then a 2 metre HDMI cable going PVR to Sony TV. No audio issues, no other problems to report...
I like it!!!
