Ex-gays or not

Just because most Catholic priests stay celibate, doesn't mean they're asexual. You can change behaviour, but not sexuality. If you're not attracted to people of the opposite sex then you can't force that attraction. Basically, think about it the other way round, could you force yourself to be attracted to people of the same sex (assuming you aren't already)?

Yes. Asthma, allergies, high cholestrol (which makes me a high risk for heart attacks and heart disease, but I can't exercise because i get asthma attacks when i do), and depression, anxiety, insomnia, adhd.

So tell me why every new gay poster in this forum runs to the gay threaRAB immediately? Does your sexuality define who you are? Are you one-dimensional?
You don't see newbie heteros jumping on every old thread related to banging chicks, do you?

No one said that the priest was asexual. But a gay man did say that he became straight. And thats the point. you can change and theres nothing at all wrong with conducting studies and wanting to changing. Its not politically incorrect, its not unethical. Some obviously want to change; sometimes the don't, yes it would appear that its very hard for some and easier for others. But it can happen.

Jim and Evan -

I am just not gonna take the word of a couple of straight dudes about what it is or is not to be gay - or how and why one happens to be gay.

(They aren't into chicks like me so SOMETHING must have gone wrong.... )

Bambino is good. Baseball season now.

...Sex has nothing to do with it. For me, Gay Rights are very important because closed minded bigots don't want us to have the same rights that straight people automatically get. It's also the issue I know best.

Not that it's any concern of yours, but I have been reading other threaRAB...

It's terribly difficult to convince the gay priders that being gay is a matter of choice. When held beside the stigma of "abomination" preached by the bible-thumpers, there is guilt to be attached with the choice.

So what are you saying, only gay people can analyze and ponder into the reasons why someone becomes gay? Can only Murderers look into the reason why they became murderers?

I

So you could choose to be attracted to Dick Clark? Meaning that next week you could be dating guy and enjoying it if you so choose?

LOL, there probably are some people who claim that... I was just answering Iron, about 'ex-gay' I think they call themselves 'reformed homosexuals' or 'reborn' etc... Maybe with fertility treatments some people will be born, half gay, 1/16 native American, 1/8 lesbian, etc...

So there are gays that aren't 'socialised' into being gay?

I like the way you manage to assosciate gays with murderers.

He/ She didn't say this. You're putting worRAB into his/ her mouth.

When ones rights are limited and when ones love for someone special is at stake of course debating such issues would be paramount in ones life. Sure sexuality is not only one thing that determines a person and I fully agree.

Me being gay is but a small part in the bigger part of my life. However, seeing the suffering of others and having lived through such suffering because of who I am is why I see such issues in need of being addressed and debated.

Hyperbole aside, how is "one's love for someone special at stake" wrt any of these topics? I don't recall anyone advocating shooting or imprisoning gays. Did I miss something?

Hmm, well yes and no. I suppose it depenRAB on how you view homosexuality to begin with. I don't believe in sexual orientation and all that non-sense. In my beliefs it's a choice, a sin, just like any other. So when my friend stopped entertaining the acts of homosexuality, he didn't become heterosexual, he simple stopped giving in to temptations. He'd always been heterosexual, however he made choices to act on homosexual temptations with other men.
