I thought Jim was fantastic in this movie! And what a unique love story.

I really loved the last scene in the beach house as it was crumbling....

Hi everyone! This thread is for anyone who is a fan of the movie! This definitely is my all-time favorite movie.

Why? Well the script is fabulous and well written. The dialogue is loaded, reflective, and in-depth, the asethetics and image of the film was well made in complimenting the storyline.

And finally, but not least, the amazing cast! Jim Carey has never done a better film than this one, imo. Kate Winslet steals the film as the woebegone Clementine!
Elijah Wood, Mark Ruffallo, and Kirsten Dunst are amazing supporting cast as well!

I'll try finding more images for them, but that banner above is something I made a little while back. ;)

I'm watching this right now. I seriously love this movie!

I love how they remembered the Montauk thing!

I got to see this movie the other night, and wow, was it amazing. In fact, when I got home yesterday I hurried to make an Eternal Sunshine wallpaper for my desktop

What a brilliant job by the writers, cinematographers, and actors. Jim Carrey's performance was so beautifully soulful. Kate Winslet was wonderful as well. Hell--I think every actor in the film did a great job. And I agree about Kirsten Dunst--she usually annoys me, but I thought she did a great job with this too.

What a great film!

There are so many memorable scenes! I really like the one near the end when Joel is in the car as it drives off. He looks back and sees all the memories right before they fade away forever. The look in his face is so perfect. A mixture of heartbreak, longing, and acceptance.

I've seen this movie too many times to count :D

It is going very well in the theatres at the moment I have seen. I think people like it.

I was hoping for so much more - something much more edgy. Ultimately it was fine, but it really was a chick flic/date movie.

Still, I thought all the actors did a fine job.

So I saw this on Friday and I really, really, really, really loved it. I liked the "grittiness" of the cinematography and the handheld, one-camera shots because it looked more real than the super-polished, hi-res digital images we usually see. (not that I don't like superpolished, hi-res digital images but it wouldn't have worked as well for this movie) All of the actors did such a great job -- particularly Jim Carrey and Kate Winslet. Even Kirsten Dunst didn't annoy me...much. I loved the relationship between Joe and Clementine. And yeah. It was such a lovely, melancholy, twist-y, interesting journey. I can't even articulate it so just go and watch, yo.

I love the last memory when the house collapses and the waves crash into it as well, that was gorgeous filmmaking.

What are your favorite scenes?

I really love the scene where they're in the city and the elephants come. It just fits so perfectly with the voice over of the poem.
Crazy that this scene was actually not in the script. They were filming and realized the Elephants were being brought into Madison Square Garden and decided to shoot something with them.

I also love the scene where Joel is in the car (Almost at the end) and all the memories of Clementine begin to flash before him...right as the erasing is complete. Jim Carrey's face gets me every time. A mixture of sadness and acceptance.

I really don't understand why this movie is considered a comedy. It's so sad and dismal, and yet so perfect. The lighting and the color schemes they use are perfect. I love the opening, how Clementine is the only one in bright colors. I love how the books disappear off the shelves near the end of the film when Joel's memory is almost erased. I love the crack in the ice when they're laying on the pond. I love the last memory at the house, how the house falls apart and the ocean rolls in and they talk about what went wrong, and about how it's all over. Such a sad sad movie. Such a perfect art film. I adore it.

I actually read the script they they've got out, and I kind of wonder why they cut the Velveteen Rabbit scene. (Instead of Clementine talking about a doll that she wants to be pretty, she talks about how you're only real when your fur has been loved off and you're no longer beautiful.) The script is so confusing, unless you've seen the movie of course. It makes me wonder how Kate and Jim knew how to play it.

I wish I could have seen this in theaters, but my 17th birthday wasn't until after it was out of theaters.

Saw it, loved it. In the last thirty minutes the film really comes into its own, and I don't think I stopped smiling the entire time. I love to leave a theatre feeling eternally optimistic about everything, and to me, sometimes, that's what really makes a movie.

Everyone turned in stellar performances, especially Jim. CK's a machine, and I know he'll continue to churn out one masterpiece after another.

Great movie!

I just watched this movie tonight for the first time. I thought it was great. Def, not your average movie. Jim and Kate were spectacular. I was rooting for them all the way through the movie. I wasn't expecting the twist with Kirsten Dunst's character at all. I thought I might just shut off this movie at the beginning, but I gave it time and I turned out to love it. I would recommend this movie. I love it when a movie surprises me, and this one did.

this is my fave movie for many reasons :sigh:

yeah it was so sad :(
and jim carrey was awesome in this movie, kate was absolutley amazing and I love the hairstyles they help you to understand the timeline of the movie , past and present

That scene is definitely really sad because he realizes how much he does love her and the memory is so intimate.

I'm hoping to watch this tomorrow night, if my friends are willing to go with me.

If not, maybe I'll catch it on Sunday night.

I agree - and yes, it did win for Best Screenplay.

I don't understand why Jim Carey doesn't get more credit for his dramatic roles because he truly is fantastic, and I'm saying that as an unbiased non-fan.
