E50 - New Firmware 06.41.3.0 available via NSU

Updated the firmware. Seems like, as mentioned above, the menu seems faster. I also noticed I seem to have lots of free RAM left compared to the previous firmware. I don't know if it's just me but the numbers seem higher.

thanks.
I read about the problems with provider specific software over on the nokia discussion board.
I just wonder is the product code in the phone only phone type specific or in fact operator specific.
Cause when I type the code into the nokia pages (check software availability) I see the new firmware as available. but the updater doesn't find it.
So I wonder does the software updater check other phone specifics when looking for the correct software?

I updated a few hours ago without any problem. It took quite a while so I really do recommend to charge your battery before doing anything, you don't want the update to be cancelled in the middle.

The phone is faster, videos don't blink anymore on the start. Other than that I can't say as I didn't have any other problems really.

Yeah, after the update and restoring the backed up data I still miss a few applications (e.g. Screenshot). It got totally deleted. I will write more about the update process at the Nokia E50 website.

I've had it for almost 2 weeks now and have logged a ton of talk time already. I've yet to notice anything different from any other phone I've held up to my ear for a long time. I think my 8801 is the only one that stays somewhat neutral during a conversation and thats because it's glass around the earpiece. If your E50's earpiece is warming up beyond what you think is normal then perhaps your just full of hot air!

Apparently the new firmware is only available for RM-170 (with camera) and not RM-171 (without camera) which is the phone I have. I like the phone but have quite using it in favor of the 6085 (which has a firmware update to 3.70). I have a couple of issues with my E50. First, it has the "popping sound" bug to the point where some calls are completely distorted. The font size requires an electron microscope to read on some screens. By and large it is a good phone for the money and I am hoping the new firmware will fix some of these issues.

;8674798']I still get flickering icons after playing a java game for a long time. However, the flickering goes away once I lock the phone and unlock it again. I have not experienced any of the issues you have listed above. I have 06.41.3.0 that came pre-installed on my metal black E50. Mine is Made By Nokia.

The update significantly sped up java implementation, I can now play 3d java games without any problems (TowerBloxx i.e.).

Cool

But this bug is not experienced by everyone. I for one, have never come across this problem, despite using ONLY the green button to answer normal calls and call waiting calls.

If you have this problem then you've got a dud phone. Send it back for warranty repair and tell them to replicate the problem and fix it or give you a properly working phone.

Thats not the solution as it's happened many times after the third or fourth ring and it's happened with unrecognized numbers.
Isnt that button designed for that feature?
How So? Some sexually explicit callers?

Nokia service means at least 2 days lost. They disclaim any responsibility for aesthetics. So if I get my phone back with the screen/cover scratched, tough luck - 'it is working isn't it?'

Secondly the problem was quite intermittent to begin with (recently and especially after the firmware update I have not had it yet) and will be almost impossible to replicate at the service centre.

Then I suggest as skagen did that you return your phone. It seems more likely a hardware issue - 'sticky' green button, where it double presses, resulting into speakerphone.

If only... but Sometimes during work also it can be embarrassing.
