E50 - New Firmware 06.41.3.0 available via NSU

Updated firmware (V06.41.3.0) is now available for the non-camera E50 (RM-171). I just updated the firmware using Nokia online tool. "popping" noise is gone, and the "E" for EDGE network works fine. Haven't used the phone enough yet to know what else has changed.

I still need to find a solution to my bluetooth problem. It only started to happen after getting the new update. Does anyone else have this same problem?

Just out of curiousity, are you suggesting that when you intentionally double tap the send button it sends it into speakerphone? If that's the case, I never knew that. Too late to try itnow but I'll try in the morning. Also, returning the phone is probably not an option unfortunately as I got it on ebay and have had it for more than 30 days or so. It's something i've heard others mentioning but I'm also curious to know if you've got the camera version or non-cam version?

Finally got the latest firmware. Anyone else having troubles ... try removing the PC Suite (ensure you still have the cable driver) and then run NSU. Once i removed the Suite, NSU ran smoothly.

cheers.

That's pretty odd. You tried turning off vibrate, right? Does it do that every time?

This could be a hardware issue, which means you're screwed if you live in the US. Nokia will not service this phone in North America because they never officialy released it there.

I had read somewhere that that was the case, but it is not so. From another post here by Jonnybruha, it may be this:
Use the "Voice" key on phones that have it to activate and deactivate the loudspeaker during a call. It'll even activate it before the right hot key switches from "End Call" to loudspeaker; just hit send and the button in immediate succession.

Yeah with vibrate on the phone restarts, with vibrate off the phone just freezes. Also I'm pretty sure it's not vibrate because when my bluetooth is not connected when the phone vibrates it doesn't restart. It seems to be only when connected to the bluetooth.
What I don't understand is why this only happened with the new firmware update.

took 20 minutes tops....it's a 62mb file that needs to be downloaded during installation but i've got 30mb download w/ verizon fios so my estimate may be misleading. I did install a FW update to my old E61 w/ good old 5mb downloads and it seemed to take the same time. Updating is easy but just follow all of the rules.
Leave your phone in the "General" profile (very important or brick city)
Make sure it's got a good charge (75 percent + IMO as it uses a lot of juice)
....and that's it other than making sure your phone is laying down in a manner where you know for sure the pop-port cable will not become loose and get an accidental disconnect...otherwise...brick again!

follow the rules....cross your fingers....and look up iunlock.com just in case.

good luck!

Thanks for the 'E' confirmation. I made a complaint to my operator about the edge issue, and they confirmed that technical problems / congestion was affecting the gprs and they hope to re-enable edge in a few days in my area. So that is one relief.

Yes, the main difference seems to be the popping sound and earpiece heating issues being fixed. The phone also seems marginally faster.
