i was on box office mojo..and it says DG is only opening in like 852 theatres...is that a lot?...cuz Black Christmas is opening in over 1,000 so the DG theatre # seems low to me lol

the movie has made a little over 71 million. Still managing to perform steady. I'm guessing after the oscars noms come out, it will get a bump in B.O. and after the Oscars, an even bigger bump if it wins anything

I read somewhere that they are purposely keeping the screen count small. They will slowly expand over the next month and a half. It's a strategy they are using.

WildAtHeart - Yep, I always laugh at the re-do of Cadillac Car. Most in the theater do.

DanceWithLife - Jennifer totally stole the show. She was amazing.

Okay you have to see it a second time. If you thought it was good the first time it was EXCELLENT the second time.

I saw it again tonight and I cried this time. I didn't cry on And I'm Telling You. I cried more on Listen because it showed Deena realizing all that Curtis had done.

I love Lorelle. Everyone clapped after And I'm Telling You, Listen, and after Jimmy dropped his pants and Lorelle sang "Lorelle loves Jimmy but Lorelle know's Jimmy's through"

Eddie did better a second time. I thought he didn't really didn't do that great but this time I see why he go the nom.

Beyonce did better to me too

:thud: I LOVE THIS MOVIE

So happy my girl Jennifer won!!!! :yay: Did you see Beyoncee? She teared up at Jennifer's win. I thought that was sweet.

I saw the movie today finally! I loved it! They all did great jobs. Jennifer's performance of "And I'm telling you".....all i can think to say is "wow!" Beyonce was great too, especially near the end when she started to be more independent. And I love Anika! I wish the part of Lorell was bigger cause Anika was so good. And the character of Michelle was good too, I thought I would hate her but I couldn't lol. Jamie and Eddie were fantastic too. Eddie's singing is so good, too bad he only made those crappy 80's albums lol he could've had a career as a singer. If i had to pick a fav performance...i just loved "Family"...there was just something about it that I loved...>Effie's "what about me" and those lines at the beginning...so heartbreaking.

And gotta say, I LOVED seeing Loretta Devine!!! So cool to see an original Dreamgirl in this movie.

#2 thats great! I don't think that it being an all black cast will hurt box offices at all. The more and more I heard about it the more excited I get, I can't wait untill Christmas day.

#2 on rolling stone's top 10 movies of the year!

Rolling Stone : The 10 Best Movies of 2006

Despite, or maybe because of, the smartasses who rag on this galvanizing musical as "the gay man's Lord of the Rings," Dreamgirls is a movie you take to heart. I sure did. Fictionalizing the story of Diana Ross and the Supremes into a cautionary tale of how 1960s R&B was ground into white pop, director-writer Bill Condon turns Michael Bennett's Broadway landmark into a movie powered by the unique magic of cinema. Give a shout-out to Condon -- he's got the goods. Beyonce excels as the lead singer of the Dreams, as does Jamie Foxx in the role of the manager who sells her out. But the roof of the multiplex is blown off by trumpet-tonsilled newcomer Jennifer Hudson as the diva who gets replaced for singing large and eating larger. And Eddie Murphy totally kills as a James Brown wild man buckling under the pressure of cultural assimilation. It's an all-black cast, which so-called experts insist will hurt at the box office. My guess is that audiences will have the savvy to know Dreamgirls is a story of America.

Loved Oprah today! Jennifer was so gracious and was obviously touched by the audience reaction over her

Jacob - The movie is out Christmas day.

It is getting alot of hype............apparently well deserved from what I hear, but I haven't seen it yet, so I can't say. I'll be seeing it Christmas day.

Toxic Kisses- I agree about Jennifer's vocals!
