i felt this deserved a bump. cuz Jennifer just got the cover of Vogue! she is the 3rd African-American to be on the cover and the first african-american singer to be on the cover

o! i loved the scene where she cried over jimmy's death!

i bought the original broadway soundtrack today since they rereleased it. Theres a song on there for Lorell, solo called "Ain't no party". That should've been in the movie so i could see more Anika! lol.

And i loved the end when curtis realized he had a daughter

Jennifer needs to win an Oscar. The audience loved anything she said during the whole movie, it was so cool

i don't see how you didn't like the acting. i thought beyonce was the only 1 who needed a little more acting lessons. And th emovie gave eddie his first GG ever. And Anika is a tony award winning actress. Hinton had a small part but he is the only living 3 time tony-award winner....i think, i read that a few years ago so maybe someone else has won 3 or more by now.

and i loved the directing. little things like the performances. the director said how he felt if he had the cast singing out in random places like most musicals, it would take the audience out of the movie. Thats why most of the singing takes places on or near a stage or recording studio.

and i just love the audiences' reactions...i love films that get audience involved, with the cheering and clapping.

I think this is the only "award show" film i've liked in recent years..i usually try to watch other gg and oscar nominated films and end up so bored.

I also caught them on Oprah as well, made me get a better view on this movie since I didnt know at first what it was about. It looks good.

Please do, I can't stop talking about it either.

Onlhy one guy stood up back and forth clapping. Everyone just clapped and cheered.

The 3 guys next to me kept saying "damm I wish I was Jay-Z" when Beyonce and Jamie were in their bedroom and she was asking for his child

i loved what she said about watching J. Holiday's performance on youtube...thats how i found her tony performance too lol.

i missed seeing it when it aired though..i was studying for finals.....so another reason why finals are evil lol they made me miss her appearance.

i wish she would've done "and i'm telling you". but they must want her to not perform it live until after the movie comes out so that part in the movie will still have a "wow" feeling, i'm guessing......it's close to 3am...and i'm in a campus computer lab..so my post might seem a little jumbled lol

im really happy about the Anika audition. That title is the Lorell song that was in the original Broadway musical..i hope thatmeans we get to hear her sing it

The performance last night was so GREAT! I really enjoyed it!

And Jen won :yay:!! But I was upset that they didn't win for Best Original Song from a movie or whatever it was. Three out of five nominations were theirs!!! Oh well...

ok..that limited engagement thing must be where i got the 15. So it probably is the 22nd then.

i hope when they start doing promotion, Beyonce performs Listen on some talk show or something. It would be amazing

BTW: i plan on editing the first post with pics. I have to wait until friday though when i go home cuz the campus computers are so evil to me

WildAtHeart - Glad you got to see it. :) Anika has been overshadowed by the other members of the cast which is sad because she really is great!! You're rigjht though...........her part is small compared to the others. She did great with what she got though. Loved her.

Eddie was so good!!!

Nayden-fan868 - I couldn't agree more. I saw it for the 2nd time tonight and fell in love with it even more which I didn't think was possible!!

I cried during And I Am Telling You and Listen. Both so powerful.

I loved when Lorelle sang Lorelle loves Jimmy.

And Jimmy putting the soul back in his music in the drop his pants performance is one of my faves.

Anika was so good in the scene where she's crying over Jimmy's death!!!

I was super impressed with Eddie the first time around and even more so the 2nd time around!!

I love this movie too and I'm sure I'll be seeing it a couple more times in the theater.
