But these women were half American and the opportunities for women in the US were far better than in the UK.

They probably had cousins in the US that they communicated with and learnt a great deal about the possibilites that women could have in a freer society.

Queen Victoria was born as the result of a competition to produce an heir to the throne.

King George III (Mad King George) had several sons. The eldest became George IV, known as the Prince Regent, who hated his wife and had only a daughter, Princess Charlotte, who died in childbirth in 1817. George IV died in 1830 and the next king was his brother, William IV, who had no legitimate wife or children and looked very much like not producing any.

The other sons of George III were ordered to find suitable wives and breed an heir. The winner was Edward, Duke of Kent, who married Princess Victoria of Saxe-Coburg-Saalfeld and promptly produced a daughter, Victoria. Edward died in 1820 and Victoria became Queen on the death of William IV in 1837.

Possibly but Ms Logan, although Scottish, can do an excellent english voice when required. A fine actress.:)
