I'm sincerely trying to understand your opinion that sexual orientation has no aesthetic quality. And for that matter, why we bother calling people gay or straight, if that's the case.
 
I don't think it's about trust. I think it's about far more basic human emotions and reactions that are difficult to control when people are not consciously thinking about them

like shooting someone. Most people in combat won't even do this. You think that a person's base sexual instinct including an aversion to homosexuality is going to take into consideration societal norms and human rights?
 
so it's better to confront that prejudice head on and coddle people who want to be able to express themselves openly without any consequences?

that doesn't sound very military. Personally I don't like the idea of shooting someone in the face.. can I still join the army?
 
if you could de-sexualize the military maybe it would be for the best. Or conversely if you turned soldiers into tentacle raping maniacs, maybe the military would be more effective that way.

But I'm not sure why you want to pick and choose specific emotions to allow and disallow
 
You're mixing up personal preference and codified laws again. That seems to be a problem for you.

But yes, it is my personal preference that people who are so vain and shallow as to have their ability to honor the unknown soldier reduced due to the height of the honor guard at the tomb not be allowed to view the tomb.

However I would never in a million years try to pass a law forcibly preventing them from doing so. I'd just man up and deal with the fact that I'm surrounded by idiots. Or, as your homophobic military types should, man up and deal with the fact that people in my unit like to smoke pole and take it up the ass when they aren't engaged in their military duties.
 
So long as you're not on someone else's private property and/or not being told by the actual property owner (or their agent) to leave, you could stay there all fucking day and play whatever music you choose. You're not breaking any laws.

Kind of like how the simple act of being homosexual is not breaking any laws in this country. Even the idiotic sodomy laws wouldn't apply to the simple act of being a homosexual individual.
 
I am sure that Gen. Petraeus is fully qualified to speak on the implications of gays in the military. Apparently though, BoomBoomBoy thinks he's delusional, as does the last 234 years of military history
