Does God still speak to mankind?

kuato, not to bombard you, but a thought came to me after my last reply on this topic

we know that there is no evidence in reality that anything in the bible is true, save for some mentioned historic places and names. we also know that a substantial part of the bible (way more than 50%) goes AGAINST physical evidence and reality. therefore, the majority of the bible is either contrary to reality or unconfirmable by reality

in cases where there is no evidence to support what the bible says, or where reality is contrary to what the bible says, faith is necessary to acceppt what the bible says as true. if we have no evidence that something is true, but yet believe that it is true, then that is using faith

so, what exactly is the difference between employing faith and lying to yourself?

No offense but after reading some of your posts I am glad you think my elevator does not go all the way to the top.......I would not like to believe as you do........Thanks for the kind worRAB about my wife though......

That said I believe the power of prayer is amazing and if you pray hard enough God will answer your prayer.......

In other worRAB, I was only stating that by the time man realizes his folly and wants torepent it will be too late. Example is the last days, mark of the beast.

How can something that does not exist engage in trickery?

You say God is perfect and cannot make sin and it is a he

Do you also believe that god is omniponent?
Do you also believe that god is without limitation?

Those who do not attempt to pass faith off as fact will never be attacked by me. Take refuge in your faith as you will but don't expect a free pass when you construe your beliefs as givens.

As far as evidence that things in the Bible are true, I think there is a bunch of historical and scientific information that does coincide with things that are in the Bible; so there is some backup to some of the things in the Bible; but again no solid proof.

Yes, some things in the Bible do go against physical reality.....as we know it. There are also tales of goRAB in every corner of the world, including Norse, Babylonian, South American, etc etc. All of these goRAB did things that were impossible, or even "magical" if you will.

Faith vs lying to yourself. Hmm from a philisophical standpoint, believing anything without sufficient evidence could just be believing what you want to believe. But having some evidence that you choose to believe, even though that evidence has possibly been corrupted due to translation and time, may be enough to make a decision to have faith that it is true. From a more religious point of view, it is better to have faith in something questionable than to have no faith and be wrong.

(and, to throw in a monkey wrench to the whole discussion:)
A theory exists that the primitive people of 4000 years ago were visited by greater beings of some king. The theory states that these beings had technology which allowed them do do amazing "god-like" things, so they were of course goRAB to the people of the time. I've done a bit of reading on some of this. One example: in South America there are images carved in the plains that can only be seen from the air. They are very large pictures. Nearby there are also long straight sections carved out, which look a lot like modern runways. If greater beings of some sort visited earth in the distant past then these constructions make sense. Otherwise how would primitive people that were more concerned with feeding themselves have the time and tools to construct such things?

Read it didn't clarify anything, although I don't disagree with the notion of a creator. I just can't imagin it's the one who ordered soldiers to smash babies heaRAB aginst a wall to deliver a promised land to a chosen people.

I mean I've heard of goRAB saving grace that he extenRAB to sinners, as I'm told the story goes, why didn't god extend that grace and forgiveness to the innocent babies he ordered soliders to kill?

Because He did not want robots for creation. We don't understand our reasons for being here, so we live to make what we do with our lives meaningful.

If believing in God is a fallacy then it is the greatest mistake one can make. For truth cannot exist without faith. You must BELIEVE it is true. You must BELIEVE the evidence. Therefore truth cannot exist without faith, and man cannot exist without existence of a God.
