Destroy the Rebirth - "Gundam 00" Season 2 on SyFy's Ani-Monday Talkback

I have to admit, SciFi has improved with the nuraber of commercial breaks. Instead of chopping up the episodes into 5 segments, they actually seem to make an effort to wait 15 minutes before going to a break.

Still need to work on the prologue I guess.

Eh, I thought the fights in this last episode were underwhelming. The corabat that took place in the previous two episodes, and even battles that took place before (going all the way back to season 1) were much better. In comparison, this just looked like Celestial Being was cleaning up the leftovers and taking out the trash. Also, it was really surprising to see the end credits, the whole time through, I kept thinking that they would suddenly speed up. As for the season as a whole, it was an enjoyable watch, with minor bumps here and there (wasn't thrilled about the lack of development certain characters got later in the season). Had a nice ending, if a bit lackluster. Though, I did like Saji's point about being ignorant to the world's problems.

Useless Character Award goes to: Marina. She's been completely useless ever since her appearance in the second season, doing nothing but getting jailed, hiding in rooms, worrying instead of doing anything, putting down people for actually getting stuff done, refusing to protect the children, and in return, people still look up to her? Yeah, she wrote a song, whoop-dee-doo. I know she has her beliefs in how to achieve peace, but I think the writers screwed up bad in how to display them.

The epilogue for Flower of Life:

Hilling Care has the ruined Seravee on her monitor. However, she realizes belatedly that the core is intact, and the cockpit hatch is open.

Ribbons is inside the room that contains Veda. He comments that humanity is being tested, and questions whether it will go through rebirth or annihilation. A voice comments that either way, Ribbons won't be the one to decide that. Ribbons turns.

Tieria is in the doorway, gun drawn......

Nena clearly said in the last episode she was in that she was created for war. That and other non-fanon sources...

All I'm saying is that Nena was raised in circumstances that is atypical of normal humans, and she should not be condemned so casually.

You have a point, though I think it only goes so far. After all, Setsuna was indoctrinated as well in a different way, but he ended up in a completely different place. And while Nena may have been raised for a very specific and twisted purpose, her comments in the last episode about how she was made for fighting have to be balanced against the sheer joy she took in her actions before. Her general behavior didn't suggest a personality bitter and regretful about her lot in life. On screen, her bitterness can be traced to after Ali killed her brothers.

If they knew all the names of the innovators, I'm sure they could make the connection.

"heeeyyy ... you guys all have weird names and we have ... a weird name in our .... wait a second!"

As far as we know...

Revive = Guy (Easier to tell in the Japanese version)
Anew = Girl
Bring (Quiet red head who just showed up) = Guy
Hilling = Girl
Ribbons = Guy
Regene = Guy (I thought he was a chick for the longest time.)
Tieria = Guy (yet pulls off the girl thing way too well. )

She certainly revelled in killing off Wang. Nena's moments of getting to kill and destroy display a kind of satisfaction that most people would associate with sex.

Don't expect to be very active around here, among other reasons because I'm still planning to re-watch the whole series, but it will be interesting to see dub fans react to all the new developments and even how Sci-Fi handles the inevitable if unfortunate cuts for time.

For now...the show does have a pretty strong start so I hope most will be entertained by it. Good luck.

Its been bugging me, but what ever happened to the President, Chairman, and the AEU Asserably? They actually were more interesting characters than the villains. Heck, I prefer their scenes in which they discussed CB in Season 1, which has been sorely lacking in Season 2.

Picard: "NO!"
