Destroy the Rebirth - "Gundam 00" Season 2 on SyFy's Ani-Monday Talkback

Ok, so having the female cast take over would be too much of a risk, and would be contradictory to some of the characters. But it would have been interesting, and unexpected.

The problem is that they didn't develop it enough.

Alright, there is a limit to how many fights you can have in a series. Lucikly Gundam is only 50-episodes at most, so they can't have half-year long fights.

Except for one meeting, Setsuna and Ribbons don't really make awesome match. There's no sense of tension, no sense of masterminRAB dueling it out, nothing that builRAB up an epic final battle between the two characters. It just seems that it could have been done alot better.

I will say the only good thing was that Setsuna and Ribbons effected their own vision of the world. But it seems that each one treated the other as an abstract ideal more than an obstacle.

Mostly because Heero and Zechs were alot more fun to watch. From the get go, you see these two guys building up to a final showdown. They do fight, but not so much that it becomes tiring. Both were similar and yet different, their personilities matched and yet clashed. The fights were fun and reltively short. And when the fianl battle came, it at least delivered the action.

Sure, it the characters were underdevloped, but it dosn't subtract to the mythic feel to the rivalry.

It made for an okay story. However, it could have been done much better. By having a four year skip, I think they wasted perfect opprounity to develop the story and show the changes much more gradualy. It just seems like Season 1 was rushed, looking back.

The other option was to take the story in a radically different direction. Sure, it could still be about Gundam, but they could have taken it to other directions. The show shouldn't feel like a world we've seen a million times already.

Billy: "What are these voices I'm hearing in my head!"

Oh, Billy schizophrenic. That explains alot.

THE POWER OF LOOOOOOOOOVE!

Marie LIVES!

And she goes and verbally pwns Andre!

Wow, seven episodes left.

At the end of last week Celestial Being launched against an large incoming attack from A-Laws, which now has complete authority over the Federation's military after the failed coup four months ago. With the destroyed orbital elevator now rebuilt, the Federation intenRAB to finally achieve global unity with A-Laws as its muscle.

Meanwhile, Wang Liu Mi carries a covert message meant for Celestial Being--one that reveals the location of Veda. Kati Mannequin has gone missing since the events of the coup. Katharon is on the run. A-Laws' control is greater than ever. The Innovators seek to finish Celestial Being off. Celestial Being has destroyed the second Memento Mori and now looks to defeat A-Laws with renewed determination, with each meraber having his or her own reasons to fight.

Everyone has an agenda. Not everything will go as planned. Tonight, the conflict continues.

11 PM: Shadow of the Innovators
11:30 PM: Anew Return

But A-Laws aren't exactly far from Celestial Being. Brutal interventions using overpowered GN tech is the preferred strategy of both parties. The difference is that A-Laws are sanctioned by the world government whilst Celestial Being were an independent group of terrorists. Background information in reference books only makes things look worse. According to those
the Celestial Being organization via Veda created the previous Solar Wars, which claimed many lives, in order to create the three power blocks for ease of their plan. That sounRAB above and beyond what A-Laws have done.

What do u mean? This is my first time watching season 2, and i thought the story was great. So ur telling me whatever i saw on scifi, because of all their cuts is 10 times better in the jap version?? do u think i should watch them online and scifi? its hard holding back from watching gundam 00 s2 online!

so im thinking i should watch this in Jap dub online, if they are truely cutting out scenes thats a big no no for me! , atleat its in high def!

Marina: Doesn't fit her nature well at all. Remeraber, she was trying to get Setsuna out of Celestial Being. Marina just doesn't have the spirit to fight. Not to mention that out of everyone you suggested she has zero piloting skills and four years wouldn't have been good enough for her to be able to fly a Gundam with much proficiency.

Wang: She's the type to have others do her own dirty work, not just because that's how she prefers it but when she tries to do the job herself she screws up. When she actually tried to do something herself Hong Long got pumped full of bullets and she went explodey. But at her core, Wang Liu Mei is someone who has others do her dirty work while she acts like a socialite.

Nena: THIS would have been interesting. She certainly fooled Wang. She could have fooled some of Celestial Being's more gullible merabers too, by saying she was under the whim of her brothers and THEY committed the war crimes or something like that, and she's changed and she regrets what she did yadda yadda yadda. But other merabers wouldn't have trusted her (Setsuna for one). So it would have caused some interesting conflicts and arguments. Of course, the truth would have come out eventually and Nena would a-explode by means of Louise anyway.

Feldt: This is the only one I really agree with. Feldt had everything you needed to become a great Meister, but not THE Meister like Setsuna was (and still is). She has motivation and her parents were also Meisters. It would have been her way of living up to the original Lockon's legacy. There are many ways to screw up Feldt Grace, Gundam Meister (raging emo Feldt, emotionless or yandere Feldt, etc., etc.,) but if they had gone this route, and done it right by having Feldt evolve the same way she did in season 2 but with the pressures of staying true to Lockon, she probably would've become the greatest heroine in Gundam history, or at least out of all the non-Tomino Gundams.

Strategy doesn't mean they're on the same moral level. It just means that they use similar technologies for a similar purpose.

However, were as CB used their weapons like a scalpel, the A-laws use theirs like a sledgehammer. CB never used their weapons to slaughter whole bases, nor did they ever attack anyone without a good reason.

The A-laws seem to attack anyone and everything just for the slightest hint they may resist the new order.

It matters not if its sanctioned by a private group or a world government, atrocities are atrocities.

And you know the argument about the difference between Terrorists and Partisans, so I'll skip that.

So CB provoked three wars. Alright, that is underhanded.

But then again, the the resources dwindling, whos to say if the wars were ineviable? Perhaps the conflicts were going to happen anyways, and CB started them to prevent a worse conflict from happening? Maybe they started the Solar Wars only as a taking the lesser evil. But I digress.

CB being may have provoked the wars long ago, but it does not mean the entire organization or the current generation was in on the plan.

Sure, the A-laws may not be starting outright wars, but they sure are provoking incidents and massacres to aqccomplish their goals. They're just as bad the Thrones.

btw if any1 has a problem with the 00 dub, they should check themselves, because on the path the dubs going, its going to be one of those "cowboy bebop dubs" all characters fit the english voice they have been given

Hello, Seraphim! Glad you could finally join us (instead of just being a backpack).

Farewell, Bring Stabity (yes, that's really his name). We hardly knew ye.

Ali got away. Drat.

CUT OFF! Shucks, I figured that would happen. Song sounded good, anyway.
