I know it doesn't work for everybody.
the people it works for are the ones who can be hypnotized deeply enough. according to John Hartland about 5 or 10 per cent.
also George Eastabrooks, the famous american psychologist carried out experiments on pain control with hypnosis and found some hypnotized subjects could withstand ten times the voltage when given electric shocks.
Open to suggestion page 109
the most dramatic beneficial use of hypnosis will primarily always be in the control of pain. this is where it is at its most miraculous. there are of course limitations, primarily the unsusceptibility of some people to hypnosis. but hypnosis has the wonderful advantage that when it can be used against pain, it carries no side effects. unlike morphine, it does not cloud the mind. terminal cancer patients are amongst the most urgent cases needing hypnosis. there is no need for the hypnotizable terminal cancer patient to be doped and to die in a haze of confusion, with gradually decreasing efficiency of the morphine. with hypnosis, he or she can die in dignity with a clear head up to the last moments in life, free from agony and enjoying the company of loved ones. it is an outrage that this possibility has been denied to all but a fraction of those terminal cancer patients who have died in the past century or so.
there are on record thousanRAB of cases of major operations such as amputations having been successfilly performed with hypnosis as the only anaesthetic, in the nineteenth century, such cases were very common, and it woild be useful to examine the history of this in order to see how powerful hypnosis was in eliminating pain from major surgery.

He didnt put him to sleep by tapping him on the forehead as such; he was preconditioned, induced ,susceptible whatever throughout the programme. In one of his books he explains the procedure,"anchoring" I think its called.
So way before it got to that stage he was set up to sleep by a such a tap. :)

If anyone has seen David Fincher's The Game the ending of DB was identical. The whole show was very similiar in fact.

Nonsense. Do state clearly and concisely which effects in his stage show need stooges? Because with 30 years of magic knowledge I can say none of them do.
Maybe you can also explain how a randomly thrown stuffed monkey can hit his backstage staff so accurately.

just to go over the two vital points again,
1- a suitable subject can be made to do something they would not have done of their own freewill and not be aware of it. (in spite of myths and lies to the contrary put out by hypnotherapists so they can make money)
2- there have been cases where hypnotherapists have been prosecuted for having sex with a hypnotized female patient without her being aware of it.

in carla emery's book there is a chapter on crime under hypnosis, including sex crimes. I cant type the whole chapter but here is one case.
austin v. barker
when edith austin found herself pregnant, she had no idea how it could have happened. in august of 1901 she gave birth. a few months later her fathers lawyer hypnotized her, questioned her under that rehypnotization and the mystery was cleared up. the lawer learned that david barker, who had hypnotized her several times around the date she had conceived, was the father of her child. edith was a somnambulist, capable of profound trance followed by amnesia. while she was in amnesic trance barker had taken advantage of her. afterwarRAB she had no conscious memory of what had taken place.
over the years from 1901 to 1906, the case of edith austin was tried three times. the first judgment found barker innocent, declaring that the accusation was based on 'some science and theory that was not generally known or understood'. the second trial reversed that decision to guilty on the grounRAB that the first court had ruled against the evidence. when retried in 1906 the court reversed again, declaring barker innocent because the accusation was hearsay, not a true memory.
there is so much in that book I suggest reading it.

a quote from 'open to suggestion'

page 15
thousanRAB of people throughout the western world come up to one another, knowing nothing whatever about the subject of hypnosis except that 'some people say it can help you stop smoking' , and they assert with the fervour of witnesses in a courtroom that 'you cannot made to do anything against your moral principles under the influence of hypnosis you know'
if either the person saying this or the person hearing it knew the first thing about the subject, one would be less puzzled. but generally speaking they don't.
where does this 'truism' come from?
it comes from the subliminal fear of those who say it,
unfortunately, it is not true.
this 'truth' will be exploded in chapters 6, 7 and 8, to an extent which will show the reader how numbingly misleading popular truisms can be. this false belief which has permeated through society has actually created danger. especially in chapter 7 on rape under hypnosis.
for there are so many cases of rape under under hypnosis-and there have been for so many decades now- that to conceal the truth makes one party to criminality.
a considerable part of this book concerns the abuses of hypnosis, this will make all members of the hypnosis community extremely uncomfortable, several have pleaded with me to keep quiet about it. 'you'll scare people of hypnosis they say.
I believe that attitude is wrong.

LOL! Oh god ... This is entertaining but .... It's just getting more silly as it goes on :D.

Anyone seen this guy on The Bill before? ;) ... I'm sure they have just hired some out of work actor

Yeah first thing I spotted, turn the AP off, THEN dial in an altitude? LOLWTF??? (huh.. yes i'm a geeky flight sim addict)

He basically looked like he wasn't doing anything in the simulator at all, just staring caught-in-the-headlights ahead, someone was telling him what to do and then doing it for him.

The big swoopy shot of the outside of the house.... how did they set the rig up for that and do it without anyone noticing?

I guess the fact we are all here gobbing on about the show is what DB is really after. We're the ones he's after really 8-)
