Decent Horror films?

Eden Lake is more gore than horror, I didn't really enjoy it but then I don't particularly like gore movies (except for the Saw series :D), but if you're a fan of gore do check it out.

I would definitely suggest both The Descent and The Descent Part II - both thoroughly decent horror movies that left me feeling very claustrophobic to say the least.

Also I would recommend the entire Saw series, a very enjoyable series that has so many twists and turns it'll leave you wondering where your head is! The first one is undeniably one of the best horror movies of this past decade - with the following ones not as good, but equally as enjoyable (bar the fourth one which I didn't enjoy).

The Mist is also a very good movie, not very scary but it is really atmospheric and very eerie. It is listed as horror and I really enjoyed it, so give that one a try too.

Following your recommendation in one of the other horror movie threaRAB last year, I bought 'Session 9' and can only say it was money well spent. Thanks for recommending it.

Totally agree with Martyrs , fantastic horror film . Also love Switchblade Romance
Inside

For those who have suggested 'Let the Right one in' as a horror film i disagree. It is a brilliant film , but horror it aint. Even IMDb says Drama | Fantasy | Mystery | Romance .

that's the great thing about Let The Right One In - you just don't have a clue what kind of film it is you're watching. It's mesmerizing. And the sequence where it approaches a proper horror film is the least good part

I hate moderm horrors because it's just gore and nothing else! I want to see Salo.
Didn't like Eden lake because it was too predictable and more thriller.

I saw society years ago! The end scene is breathtaking:eek:

No, you're not alone, i thought it was crap, although my dislike of the film may have stemmed from the fact that it starred an actor who is regularly out-acted by a pair of sunglasses (David Caruso), who true to form was abysmal in the film. I didn't think it was that scary either though.

Give Martyrs a shot, its gory but if you can make it through the harrowing second half it reveals itself to be highly substantial and thought provoking. Its probably the best horror movie i've seen. It really gets under your skin and disturbs you.

A youtube friend is sending some gory as hell films, Red To Kill, Naked Blood Splatter, Aftermath and Lucker the Necrophagous, I look forward to seeing them

Agree with the call that modern horror films are f***ing hopeless for the most part. The "Wolf Creeks" and "Saws" are just charmless soulless crap. Kinda miss the likes of "Hammer" and "Amicus". Whatever happened to the anthology movie?

Oh, and "Salo" - no. You'll never get those minutes back.

I find gore silly because I sit there thinking "This isn't real! Just plastic or animal innarRAB". I prefer scary films that make you think a bit or are twisted. Actually , one of my faves is "Dawn of the dead" which does have a reat body ripping scene but it's also about other themes.
I have "The Human centipede" bookmarked but not sure if i'll watch it. I prefer watching horrors with other people as it's more fun:(
