Death Note creators (Ohba & Obata) confirmed to launch new manga titled: Bakuman

You would think news of a new manga by the creative team of Death Note would have been made much sooner then ONE WEEK before the first chapter of the manga no?

I just read the chapter, and it's extremely entertaining. The story is about a middle schooler named Mashiro who is good at drawing, and Takagi who is good at writing, and how they plan on becoming manga-kas. It is also about the love relationship between Mashiro and a girl named Azuki who wants to be a seiyu, who have agreed not to see each other until Mashiro's manga gets turned into an anime and Azuki becomes a seiyu for it, although they can still communicate through e-mail. This series is definitely something I'll be keeping up with.

i like when the guy asked the girl to marry him, lol, that was so random, i dont know where this manga is going, but its realy interesting so far.

"with todays low birth rates, we'll never be as popular as Dragonball or One Piece", yes, those are definately the two to shoot for.

this is nothing like Death Note.

Chapter 3 is out, and it was just as good as the other chapters. It's rare that a series makes me so attached to the characters and want to see them succeed so quickly.

^My feelings exactly. (these guys have a habit of making me want to see the main characters win)

So yeah, thanks to this forum, I'm checking this one out. And its pretty good. I even learned some new things about the manga industry. I was especially interested in the fact that sworRAB=popular (and the fact that they are totally right.

Orabroada and Obata's manga series could basically be described as the incarnations of the phrase "The pen is mightier than the sword" (Except one pen can make or break your future and the other one can kill a whole bunch of people)

All right, all right. Calm down its okay.

Now take a deep breath and look at the title again.

I'm glad the mangakas realized how many Death Note similarities they was using in the first chapter and decided to make fun of that fact. It was beginning to look like they were repeating themselves.

With chapter 8, their first manga has been rejected, but at the same time they received encouragement from the editor to keep going. The editor is... rather ugly, but he seems like a nice enough guy. The "cliffhanger" was pretty cute, too.

I think it's pretty hilarious that this comic seems to be basically a cartoonish autobiography of the creative talent.

I mean, "an aspiring writer and talented artist"? I wonder who THAT could be. XD

It also makes it a very, well weird title for Jump. I mean, yes, they are jump alumni and such, but the tone makes it feel like it'd be more at home in Afternoon or Shonen Ace (IE: Otakucentric mags,) rather than Jump. I'm glad the duo has managed to use their notoriety to do something unexpected, and further still that Jump's had the guts to back that arabition.

A bit late, but the new chapter came out and they made a new series, "100,000,000 SeconRAB", which seems to quite interesting too. Even so, it still only enRAB up not getting past the top 8 in the Tezuka Award, culminating in an awesome scene where Takagi punches that one arrogant guy in the class that thinks he's good at drawing. It was a pretty good chapter.
