Death Note creators (Ohba & Obata) confirmed to launch new manga titled: Bakuman

True, that probably only snuck by because it had the same artist as Hikaru no Go, which is itself a bit of an oddity. It's almost like it's a gradual leveling up of weirdness.

Well, in the latest chapter, they've abandoned trying to get by as a cult hit and will be going for something more mainstream. I'm a bit disappointed by this, but they could probably make something interesting. It's somewhat amusing that their big downfall was not appealing to girls enough, since typically when people talk about the popularity of a shonen series, they almost never talk about how it appeals to girls.

Man, I have to say, this manga is really something else. The duo who brought us Death Note, dare I say it, have done it again. I find both the concept of this manga, as well as Death Note, to be brilliant, and I absolutely loved how the author referrenced both Death Note and himself, by having a quote of his (I don't know if he really said that, or not, though) stated by Saiko.

I really love Takeshi Obata's art style, and I'm also a fan of Death Note and Hikaru no Go, which he also did artwork in, so I can't be more happy that he has teamed up to work with Tsugumi Orabroada once again.

The thing that I love most about this manga, as well as what was so great about Death Note (and I might as well mention HnG, while I'm at it, even though that was by a different author), is how extremely addicting it is, leaving every chapter off at such a cliffhanger, and really pulling you into the story, grabbing your attention with each and every page. The last manga that I have read that got me so addicted was Dragon Ball, which I actually never got to finish because I currently don't have money to buy more manga, and it was actually pretty recent when I finally decided to check out the manga for DB, so I guess that it really hasn't been a long time since a series has pulled me in so much . But, still, only very few manga and anime have managed to do this, for me, so I am really impressed with how good Bakuman is, and I can't wait to read more chapters of it.

I noticed that some panels had stuff from other manga in the background. More specifically, I noticed a Naruto poster in one panel, and Wanted Poster of Luffy from One Piece, in additon to Naruto being on another, rolled up poster, within the background of another panel. Has anyone else noticed stuff like this in any other parts of the manga?

I think its actually pretty cool, and kind of clever, in how they reference so many other shounen manga titles in one way or another....a YYH or HXH reference would still be nice, though.

I guess I'll be the first to say something about the new chapter.

It seems Mashiro and Takagi are having a rather hard time trying to work on their mainstream series, as opposed to them coming up with ideas so naturally before. It's obvious that they'll realize their mistake eventually; let's hope for their sake it's sooner rather than later.

I was surprised at what Eiji did at the end of the chapter, but looking back, I probably should have expected something like that from him. One wonders if he even has the attention span to stick to one series for a long time.

Also, Miyoshi's quite a hard hitter, isn't she? All that padding and Takagi still got beat up pretty badly.

According to Wikipedia, it's a corabination of the worRAB for "garabling" and "comic (manga)", relating to Mashiro's uncle's belief about the success of a manga.

Someone posted a page in Capslock Bleach and I was all like "wut? manga about manga?" So I had to check it out.

THIS MANGA IS RELEVANT TO MY INTERESTS! Art supply geekage, trade secrets (they trace those backgrounRAB!? I KNEW THERE WAS A TRICK TO THAT!!!) JUMP SUBMISSION PROCEDURES!!! JOY!!! XDDDDD

You know, I've yet to run across a G-pen. I have a speedball with a hunt 512 bowl point nib that looks like the one Mashiro's uncle used and I rather enjoy it. And I can get it to do the manga-y lines, although I'm usualy trying for something looser, whis is when I usualy reach for my 00 brush. Although lately I've been doing a lot of stuff in Painter. /artgeek>

This topic hasn't been bumped up in a while.

In chapter 22, Mashiro starts working for Eiji as an assistant, and... it goes nothing like I would have thought. I'm not sure what I thought was going to happen, but I didn't imagine that all of them (besides the only actual adult) would work together to try to make Crow as good as possible.

On another note, it seems like Bakuman will definitely be sticking around for a while. It appears to be quite popular, and even got the cover of Jump this week.

Heee, epic collaborating action! XDDD Ah, if only real collab projects were that energetic.

Well, sometimes they are. DepenRAB on how much caffine/sugar has been consumed.

I noticed it too, I like how Orabroada and Obata have gone and done it again, not to mention this is a manga I can relate too on the daily basis (though I related to Lucky☆Star more, but that was because I act just like Konata), anyway I think it's a nice change from the typical actiony manga to a more slice-of-life feel, and seeing as I prefer comedy over action it suits me just fine

And yeah, a Yuu Yuu Hakusho and Hunter x Hunter reference would be nice

Okay, another bump. With chapter 34, the duo have finally been approved for serialization, but on the voice actress front, things are getting a bit rocky.
