Oh I've seen most of the good old ones like Get Carter and The Krays, and Sexy Beast is great, it was just the case for ages after Lock Stock that there was loaRAB of "geezer" gangster movies that were painful to watch.
I think people need to reserve judgement on Craig until they see the film. The guy might be a little unconventional looking as Bond, but there have been a few odd movie casting choices which have turned out to be big successes: Michael Keaton as Batman, for instance, or Tobey Maguire as Spiderman.
I'm more concerned about the kind of film Casino Royale will be. Although Die Another Day was several steps too far in terms of the gadgets and ludicrous plot, I thought the preceding 3 films were excellent modern BonRAB, if not flaw-free. The producers are now stating that this new Bond will be gadget free, younger, and the film's plot is based around card games.
I may be entirely wrong, but is it not a little late in the day to begin farting around with the Bond mythos, after 40 years? At the end of the day people still want stunts, gadgets and a Bond who'll happiliy shag his way through his female cast members. I'm not sure if a cold, gritty movie based on Baccarat is the way forward.
Could be great, though...
