Daniel Craig is the new Bond

No, no, no, no, no, no!! It's all wrong! Even tho I'm not a huge fan of the James Bond films I don't think Daniel Craig is right for the part. I would have gone with someone like Dougray Scott or Gerard Butler ....

Daniel Craig was really the only choice for the next bond, I hate it when I hear bull that cos Robbie Williams was him in his millenium video that he maybe the next bond, that is such BS!

ROTFL!! :D :D :D

So true.

Daniel Craig looks more like a haggered Australian beach-bum surfer dude, than a suave British secret agent. I would not find any characterisation he does believable for a moment (because he just looks totally wrong from the word go).

It's a disastrous (and desperate) choice in my opinion. Craig may well be an excellent actor, but as far as playing Bond goes, Brosnan was / is WAY better.

Maybe if it doesn't work out for Daniel Craig then they can get Samuel L. to take his place ....... :p

My God, after a Google search to see just who he was, I'm afraid to have to say that I won't be watching the next film if he's in it as Bond. He doesn't look that great and the hair, what's going on?

RIP Bond Franchise, you should have just gave Brosnan what he wanted...

Paddy :D

Oh I've seen most of the good old ones like Get Carter and The Krays, and Sexy Beast is great, it was just the case for ages after Lock Stock that there was loaRAB of "geezer" gangster movies that were painful to watch.

I think people need to reserve judgement on Craig until they see the film. The guy might be a little unconventional looking as Bond, but there have been a few odd movie casting choices which have turned out to be big successes: Michael Keaton as Batman, for instance, or Tobey Maguire as Spiderman.

I'm more concerned about the kind of film Casino Royale will be. Although Die Another Day was several steps too far in terms of the gadgets and ludicrous plot, I thought the preceding 3 films were excellent modern BonRAB, if not flaw-free. The producers are now stating that this new Bond will be gadget free, younger, and the film's plot is based around card games.

I may be entirely wrong, but is it not a little late in the day to begin farting around with the Bond mythos, after 40 years? At the end of the day people still want stunts, gadgets and a Bond who'll happiliy shag his way through his female cast members. I'm not sure if a cold, gritty movie based on Baccarat is the way forward.

Could be great, though...

Folks folks folks...

You can't base a whole film on one publicity shot and a website...

Seriously.

I think some of you are over-reacting and need to go for a repeat prescription

4 worRAB. Give him a chance.

Don't go in all prejudiced.

Daniel Craig is an excellent actor. But James Bond he ain't.

Casino Royale has been filmed twice before; once as a live TV show in 1954 (starring Barry Nelson, the first actor to play Bond) and more famously in 1966 with David Niven et al. Both were disappointments. I can't help feeling that if, indeed, Craig has been cast, the producers are ensuring they'll make it a hat-trick...

Better than who exactly? Not better than Craig might well turn out to be and very definitely not better than any Bond before him.

I would have paid money from my own savings to buy Brosnan out of his contract in order that he did not get another chance to sully the name of Bond. He was a ridiculous choice even when he looked young enough to play the part because he was always too pretty and puney to play the part. How much longer did he seriously expect to stay in the role? Even now, we are back to the Moore/Dalton transition where the actor in the role is being replaced by one young enough to be his son.

Brosnan should count his lucky stars that such an ordinary man and less the ordinary actor should have been given the chance to play a legendary role (and all but destroy it) before he goes around ripping into those who gave him the chance.

Good riddance and not a moment too soon.

i dont know what alot of people r thinking daniel may be ok at acting when you see him but he is ugly as hell !!!!!!!!! james bond is supposed to be sexy .............and he is not.

Daniel? Bond? NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO

I'd rather see an American like Johnny Depp play Bond than him. He's just doesn't scream "Bond......James Bond" to me.

Daniel dislikers, panic not:

Following the latest wave of tabloid speculation and pre-emptive "confirmation" on the casting of the sixth James Bond 007, Eon Productions have confirmed that a decision is yet to be made.

Reuters reports that the decision on who replaces Pierce Brosnan as the next James Bond remains a mystery just weeks, possibly days, ahead of an official announcement.

also (from MI6)

The Daily Mail's reporter was the first to state Pierce Brosnan will not be returning, but the reason behind the scenes was that it was due to his age - a claim denied by both Brosnan and sources close to the production. The reporter has previously been sued for publishing stories known to be untrue. The paper's latest "confirmation" follows a long string of British tabloiRAB backing Craig as 007 #6.

No official word has emerged from the production on the status of Daniel Craig's screentest performance, other than that he was amongst the final 8 to 10 candidates. Director Martin Campbell said earlier that an announcement would be within the next two weeks, and that Bond was set to be 28-30 years old, which was thought by many to rule Craig out of the running.

Expect to see more tabloid punts on a confirmation this week as the official announcement approaches.
