Daniel Craig is the new Bond

Most of these people slagging off Daniel Craig probably haven't even seen a film with him in it.

As for him not fitting the typical James Bond mould - well that's a good thing in my opinion.

He was awesome in Layer Cake. I think watching that film would put a lot of Bond fans minRAB at rest.

I actually agree with that bit - the last one was way too over the top "gadgety".

Guess I like Pierce Brosnan's eyes way too much...!! :)

I think the franchise has to change to survive. Brosnan did a fantastic job in the role but the character was starting to stagnate - He's been the same for 40 years. And Die Another Day made many bad mistakes which seriously undermined the franchise. Invisible cars and CG BonRAB surfing tsunamis on bits of metal have no place in 007-world. It's time they tried something new and got away from that kind of nonsense.

Apparently, he arrived at the press conference in a speed boat, 007 style.
Does any one know where you can see footage of the press conference on the web?

Totally agree. And, although I wasn't initially keen on Daniel Craig being 007, I think he will prove to be a good choice.

I loved the grittier Bond of Dalton, so I hope Craig's Bond is similar.

Please don't lecture me on what I might and might not enjoy in a Bond film.

The "superficial" audience you disparage is what keeps any franchise going. As a Fleming fan, I supported Timothy Dalton, who was the embodiment of Fleming's Bond. But he wasn't popular with the general audience. My favourite Bond film is OHMSS, because it's closest to the original book.

So you might expect me to dislike the Brosnan entertainments. Well, I don't. I thoroughly enjoyed the Brosnan films and I get a little p*ssed off by so-called "serious" Bond fans who now go around dumping on Brosnan as though to make themselves look intellectually superior to those who flocked to see his outings (the same thing's happening amongst Dr. Who fans, who seem to resent the success of the new series and have started carping about it).

Ian Fleming admitted he wrote "pillow fantasies" for adolescent-minded readers and aimed somewhere between the "solar plexus and the upper thigh". That's what the films have been delivering recently, and that's fine by me.

The fact remains that Daniel Craig is a bloody good actor. But he is NOT James Bond.

But Bond is suppose to be one man, not many men and if you can't believe that an Actor is Bond then it ruins the film. Daniel playing Bond is like Samuel L. Jackson playing Eminem in a Sequel for 8 mile.

I watched the press conference on BBC NEWS 24.

It was quite frankly a disaster! They have had four days to organise something professional but they failed.

Lack of microphones, ill-prepared answers-to-predictable-questions, an amatuer 'setting.

Perhaps, they are saving money for the movie.

Craig?

Interesting. Who cares that he's not "tall, dark and hanRABome"?

He has more of a villain than hero (but the same could have been said of Christopher Eccleston before he took on - and succeeded - the role of DR WHO) but will be fantastic.

And he's truly BRITISH...

Oh yes, my point of view is just a way of satiating my massive ego.

Not.

I have a life, friend.

For you to say Daniel Craig "is NOT James Bond" is an absolutely ludicrous assessment without actually having seen him on screen.

Sean Connery was far from the Fleming Bond, but he made the role his own. Sure, if Dame Edna Everage is cast as Bond, then we all reserve the right to pre-empt the criticism. But Craig is a solid actor with the right credentials.

Old-school Bond did brilliantly well with Connery at the helm. There are a multitude of reasons why Dalton's films didn't work, and it ain't just because of the tone.

OHMSS was the best book and, by rights, should have been the best film. Unfortunately, Lazenby's wooden presence throughout the movie ruined it for me (personally, ok?).

Now I suggest you iron out your little insecurities. If you think Craig "is NOT Bond", then don't watch it. Instead, get out your copy of Die Another Day and watch Pierce Brosnan smugly drive around in an invisible car while saving the world in a, frankly, unfathomable plot. Oh, and watch out for Madonna's cameo too.

I agree, for me it should have been either him or Dougray Scott. If they're going to go for a more gritty Bond with less gadgets and general silliness, Craig is an actor who could bring real depth to the role. It just has to be hoped that the film will be up to scratch, considering how much is now riding on it.

Oh for goodness sake's!:(

How does he look like a druggie? How do you not mean that some 'morons' (nice word) will think you think he is, when you say...

'I hope I am wrong, but he looks like a druggie?'

Does this not mean that you do think he is, yet you hope you are wrong? Or that you hope you are wrong in how he looks thus implying you can't see the wood for the tree's? I think if you really do not mean what you are implying..you should rephrase the first bit of your comment to something like, 'He has the look of a druggie'...not I hope I am wrong but...'. And no..I am not a moron. :)

I know quite a bit about Mr Craig, and there has never been any implication of him being into drugs. Which your post implies, even though you say it does not.

Why am I even answering this daft comment anyway?

I am so fed up of trying to defend one of Britains best actors against a few peeps who have no idea who he is.:(

Reading some papers today and comments elsewhere...the poor guy has been hung, drawn and quartered before he has even started work on the film.

I just hope he proves all the doubters wrong..I have a feeling he will.:)

Sorry for the rant..but this is so unfair.:( Twice I have read now he looks like he takes drugs, a few times, that he is a terrible actor (even though some peeps have only seen him in one film) and hundreRAB of times that he is ugly...and various connetations of it.

I wish he had never agreed to be Bond myself, and let himself carry on as he was, with his usual fans backing him as the great actor he is in whatever he does next.

BTW..no offence as I do not mean everyone on the boarRAB are doing this...just a few, but it is unfair to judge a book by it's cover imo. And to me, his cover is lovely anyway! :D

i think that the James Bond producers made a big mistake by changing there minRAB about Pierce Brosnan as he is by far the best James Bond eva in my opinion, tho taking nothing away from the likes of Sean Connery and Roger Moore, but i prefer Pierce and he cannot be replaced by any new comer to the role.
