I was one of the stupid people who purchased the blackberry storm when it first came out. I find it hard to believe that a phone could be any worse than that.
i played with the zio yesterday it was not that bad seeing that its kyocera it has two market places one regular android and one cricket
with the launch of 4g from bigger companies cricket has gone uncap which means faster speed customers with cricket pda's and flash
pda's will have the position for the data package for 10 to 15 downside to zio is that the screen is plastic not glass so will break easy
most apps like qik or tikl need 4g speed anyway even on sprint or verizon 3g is just not fast enough and if you do get it to work the lag in it makes you not want to use unless you are on wifi
I can second the release date as I was in a Cricket store today (paying for 3 months, and getting the 4th for free ) and i asked the manager about the Droid release date and he told me August 3rd. He also mentioned the BB was coming on the 13th of August.
Well you can't compare OFFICIAL service with HACKED service.. Officially you CANNOT use Sprint phones on Boost, and even UN-officially many phones will NOT work (Evo, Hero, Pixi, Pre, Moment) to name a few, so it's not really apples to apples. Heck you can use MANY sprint phones on Cricket too (non AWS areas) with Cricket's blessing ! !
There are always insurance replacement droiRAB for sale here in Austin for a couple hundred. There are some that are a few months old for less.
Of course, this is going off of the word of who is selling the phone, I know. This is one of the reasons why i'd even consider the Zio, I can buy it brand new and baby it.
I know Ive been hearing the same thing as far as Sep. Goes But with cricket who knows :befuddled: Can We get a link to the Zio's Facebook? Now Hopefully there is enough of a following that we can get some root action and some sweet stable rom's :clapping:
meant to say $229 after online and mail in rebate.....yea thats what im saying, u only get the $20 discount online only, then the $50 mail in rebate for in store or online....
Doesnt Cricket charge 25 dollars extra for the high end data phones? I remeraber cricket charging extra 25 dollars for the Motorola Evoke and the web was very crappy.
No one is sure yet. or if they are they aren't saying. The leaked cricket pictures show MSRP as $299.
But That doesn't mean for sure it will be $299. If it works like most cricket phones, there is a store price and a web price. Store prices are higher as the store owners need to make money too. (and I support the local store if the price is pretty close). But sometimes on the web they have sales that are hard to pass up.
Now, having said all that. I'd expect the $299 price will be accurate. And thats what I'm planning on.
just got our zio. seems pretty nice so far but really light, too light actually. speakerphone isn't so great and icons are really small due to overall screen size. i need to play around with it a little more before forming a real opinion.
strange thing is that cid shows the plan as being $60 even though it's supposed to be $55. hopefully it's just a glich.
anybody know how to confirm if you can update to a newer version of android?
Apparently people don't know how to read. Kyocera had literally nothing to do with making this phone. And the screen is pretty darn awesome, actually. I'm surprised with how responsive it is.
