Cricket to Launch Android Phone

If it's really going to happen that quickly then they should just wait to launch it with 2.1.

If this phone sucks what do you call all the other phones cricket has available?? This is way better than them. If the phone was made by a better comany such as samsung, htc or motorola it would prolley be really expensive since it will be a high end phone. The htc evo and iphone 4g will most likely with a 2 year contract cost more than this phone will retail to us.So just be happy with the improvements they are making so far. This phone is great to me since im in an aws area.

Well, sad to see that I feel like a Cricket traitor. But I just went ahead and moved to sprint. Other than the 2 year contract, I just couldn't see any reason not too.
Cricket roams on sprint(free) and verizon(charged)
Sprint roams on verizon. But big diffrence is you still get data,MMS, ect roaming with sprint. (and aren't charged for it on the everything data plan in the USA)

prices?
Cricket $60 +15$ = $75 (100 roaming, but no data roaming)
Sprint Everything data. $69 +$10(EVO charge) = $79 (450 min, but only used if you call land lines)

For me personally.
Cricket - 3 lines + data = $225 (and no data if roaming, 300 roaming min total)
Sprint - 3 lines (everything data plan with 1500 shared roaming to landline min) $179

Math wise it ended up being a no brainer to me, add in the fact that unlike cricket, I still get unlimited data, web, MMS ect while roaming for free. And there was no way I could say no. and three new EVO's at $199 a pop(cheeper than the zio and I know they are getting froyo)

Only downside is the 2 year contract, which I decided I could live with.

Been with cricket for years, have nothing bad to say about them. had good service, and believe it or not good customer support when I needed it. And wouldn't think twice about recommending the service to people who are looking for a no contract carrier. But for me personally. Financially, just didn't make sense any more.

He didn't say Kyocera, he said Keocera. I guess they are a really awful phone company. (I feel bad, I'm being such a troll right now but jeez that post was bad.)

As there is no official update, this would rely on two things: Someone finding a way to root the phone and someone building a rom with a kernel that supports all of the hardware. I'm sure that none of these are accomplished yet as the phones were just released to the public :)

How does the OS feel, generally speaking? Any lag? You ever own any other Android phones to be able to compare?

Thats good to hear. Thanks for sharing that. I've played with an Eris, so if it is on par with that, it Doesn't sound too bad at all then, heres to hoping they hit the market soon then!:clapping:

Oh, since you got to use one, does it have the pinch zoon feature (I doubt it does, but thought I'd ask.)

Yeah, I noticed that. At first, I saw that they were very unprofessional, and then after reading a little longer I learned that they weren't official.

ditto---i am in total agreement with you "dman1111"

as i said, i own an htc eris,
to some people the eris runs an an "antiquated" operating system already
people can say it is already "outdated", "obsolete", etc.
the phone is great to me
one man's junk, is another man's treasure

i do not see how this new cricket android will not be the best phone cricket has introduced
only time will tell

as for support, i go back to the blackberry storm, that i was stupid enough to purchase when it first came out - where was the support? it took almost an entire year to give the phone an operating system that it should have had to begin with
by then i had luckily enough to have sold the phone on ebay
support is relative

I flash my G1 often and so I find myself re-downloading my apps frequently. Initially, i will always install:

Astro (file manager)
SetCPU / Wireless Tethering (need root, adjusts CPU frequencies/tethering over wifi)
Facebook
Twidroid (on 1.6, there is an official twitter app for 2.x)
Opera Mini 5 (fast, even on 128kbit)
Google Maps (the most up to date at the time, currently 4.4.0)
Movies (watch trailers, find theaters and movie times)
ShopSavvy (scans barcodes, tells you local and online prices0
Yelp
Google Shopper and Goggles
PayPal
Kayak
MSN Talk
Slacker/Pandora/last.fm
Work Email (exchange mail app ripped from the MyTouch3G)
Google Voice
IMDB

The rest are paid apps (games)
Uno
speedx
Bust a move
Diner Dash 2
Hyperspace
Light Racer 3D
Monopoly Here and Now
Oregon Trail
Tetris
Tower Bloxx
The Game of Life

and wunder radio which is paid.

It's not horrible but could be better, in my opinion.

Another thing is that if you want to use LanRABcape mode, it only works one way - when holding the phone in portrait mode, turn the phone to the left and it'll happen. If you try to go the other way, nothing happens.

I've done some research on this, and some people say you shouldn't use a task manager and some say you should. I've been using one with results that seems to be a wash. For me more testing is needed on that front, so we'll see.

1) I've noticed the big improvements. After seeing that DigInfo video, I was impressed.

2) It really gives me peace of mind knowing it's made by Sanyo. Somebody mentioned it before, and it might have been you, but I'm glad to get some reassurance on that.

3) Totally agree. :)

Well we don't need to worry with the software as much now that it's running Android. :)

It looks like most of the bugs got fixed because the newest video makes it look like the phone is running smoothly. Hopefully they'll continue tweaking it and after launch if there are any problems hopefully they will come up with a fix for them.

No, don't need it.

The SMS virus, we shouldn't have to worry about. Cricket blocks those nurabers any way.
