Countdown - so much better these days!

Lol, afraid not at this hour

It was a black shift dress with lace detail on the shoulders, and a zipper all the way down past the bum. Racy! I'm gay so it's not like I fancy her. :D

I quite like it with Jeff and Rachel, but sadly, the memory of Richard Whitely will soon fade, now Carol's gone too, and some of the favourite worRAB, such as 'LEOTARD', have lost their poignancy, as the new presenters don't really seem to acknowledge the history all that much.

One thing that irritates me is Suzie Dent's 'Origin of WorRAB' bit, which I think they could do away with. It breaks up the fluency and tension of the game, in my opinion, and why does the girl never look to camera?

I used to love watching countdown every afternoon, but completely lost interest after Richard Whitely passed away. For me it's just never been the same without him.:(

I think the letters are always the same - 'The Countdown Page' shows the numbers as

S 9

T 9

They probably make the conundrum harder, though.

A lot of them have probably died and a quiz show based on numeracy and literacy where you can't win a million quid doesn't appeal to the younger generation.
I'm a Vorder-man and was less than impressed with the new girl when the revamped show started. As Carol is irreplaceable i would have gone with new technology and had a computer generate the letters and number eliminating the need for a new girl.It would save money too.
I've no idea how much it costs to produce but i'd be surprised if Jeff Stelling came cheap.

Yep and Carol was completely different when she first started.

Jeff does enough talking anyway as he's good at it (that's his job) and the guest introductions Carol used to do were cringe making so I'm happy for the numbers girl not to do that any more.

I think I've seen RR in that dress before.

It's ruined my imagined system where a team of stylists scour the world for material to make her immense dresses that are tailored to her every curve, every day. Oh well.

That Eoin lad is amazing, I'd be so embarrassed to be hammered by a 14-year-old.

Much as I like Rachel, I do wish that somebody would tell her that "times them together" and "times it by" are very ungrammatical, as 'times' cannot be used as a verb in this context. To make matters worse, many of the contestants are copying her!

As Countdown is watched by children, I imagine that English teachers all over the country are tearing their hair out if, when correcting their pupils, they are told, "Rachel says it, so it must be correct!"

While Jeff, Suzie and Rachel are a great team, the format desperately neeRAB re-booting.

I know the Scrabble people are extremely litigious, but something along those lines would be good, where a 6 letter word using Ks, Js and Zs would beat an 8 letter word.

......and please C4, NEVER invite Des Lynam back, he's become very dreary and morose since he left the Beeb ( that'll bloody teach him ).
