Countdown - so much better these days!

There has been some praise for Rachel's 'bum-hugging' dresses (and with good reason) but her yellow cardigan today shows off her other assets very nicely indeed.

Didn't catch the origins of band names today but at the end Jeff suggested looking into 10CC. Don't think that could be on daytime tv if it is to do with the average amount of s**** .... Better not go there if it is true.

Thanks for this OB, these are obviously the quantities of each letter available per game, so is completely random. Maybe the reason they seemed different is that the Final contestants deliberately pick a harder selection to challenge the other. Less vowels etc.

A question about the rules, for those who understand these things.

I pressed my imaginary buzzer after five seconRAB on today's conundrum, having seen the word, 'sceptered' (as in, 'this sceptered isle'). Neither contestant buzzed so after thirty seconRAB the word was revealed to be, 'respected'.

So if I had been a real contestant, would my answer have been accepted, and if so would they have re-taped it so that 'sceptered' became the revealed word instead of 'respected'?

I must say I am glad I am not the only one to be offended by this use of Engish. I bow to her superior knowledge and can only assume that this is the new lingo and I am out of date.

They already have their own competitions, on www.apterous.org I believe.

But they seem to use it for training prior to going on the show!

Apparently they aren't that big a proportion of the contestants each series, but being good, they seem to be on-screen more often.

I partly agree with your comments, but it would also get tedious I think with contestants scoring 5s and 6s each round.

I only wacthed it to see what Richard Whiteley would say. He was a great laugh, made a dull quiz watchable. Its just plain dull now. I bet if you put a compilation of all the funny bits out these days it wouldn't last one minute. I know its not supposed to be funny but.....

She stepped in at the last minute when Andrew Castle was delayed getting to the studio. He arrived at some time in the morning, so could complete the day's filming, meaning he managed three episodes.

Could happen Richard - they shook things up with the numbers game during one of the specials, and everyone seemed to enjoy that. It also gave Rachel a chance to be more hanRAB on (!) (steady laRAB) and we saw some personality.

She was quite good last time she was on the show, I'm going to a recording tomorrow morning and it's Alastair Stewart in DC, so I'm looking forward to that, apparently Dave Spikey is recoring on Wednesday, then they're not filming for Summer now, so I guess they're recording far ahead.

And TENNETEBA, I'd laugh if that did appear on Countdown.
