Countdown - so much better these days!

I wouldn't call him a comedian but his books are entertaining. Bought one for my mother at Christmas , she loves watching him on the prog. Pity my parents are in Cyprus on hols this week. At the end of the first part yesterday he was talking about a 15 min powernap, at the end of the second part I had a 15 min powernap and missed the guy becoming an octochamp! Had to watch it on C4+1.

Rachel is beautiful, intelligent and articulate -but would somebody please tell her not to say 'times them together' and 'times it by'. It is terrible grammar ! Some of the contestants are copying her now. 'Times' cannot be used as a verb in this context, so 'multiply' would be much better.

A friend of my aunt is a family friend, and he doesn't have any illness, he has always been a bit of a mummy's boy, so possibly not his own fault. But, I know someone with Aspergers, and they manage to rain it in a business meetings, so if it was the case he is still a plonker.

BTW, in one of the television angles this morning, his cheeks were wider than his ears !:)

That's the guy.

To be fair I normally fast-forward through most Dictionary Corner guests, I only bother with comedians, or sometimes a bit of Richard Digance.

My Countdowns do tend to be quite a bit shorter than their 45-minute slot! But when faced, as now, with two weeks' worth to watch at once, with more being added from tomorrow Monday, that's understandable.

He is far less self-deprecating now than when he first started. I too, found it tiresome. But now I think he is one of the most polished presenters the programme has had of recent years. I also had doubts about Rachel in the beginning. But she has more than delivered in the numbers field, and proved she is more than just eye-candy. This must be the strongest Countdown team since Richard Whitely.

I managed to catch a bit of this mornings early repeat. Rachel, a short, tight, backless, 'tutti frutti' dress and 'messy' hair.
Fabulous.

This just shows how much it's down to opinion, most people I know think Jeff is much better than Dreary. I also have to say that I've seen all the Countdowns since he took over (I've seen them all for many years now) and I can't ever remember him taking the piss out of the contestants or talking down to them in any way let alone in the last week.

The fact is you weren't watching it anyway means that your opinion has little influence when it comes to deciding the long term survival of the show. Personally I think the game is more important than the presenters and even when Dreary was presenting I never considered not watching - though I did squirm a lot when he was on and cheered when I learnt he was leaving. (Possibly if Brucie became the presenter that would be enough to make me stop watching though hopefully Jeff is in it for the long term).

I liked Carol but hated her introducing the guests in the cringe making way she did it, Jeff is just so much better at introductions. Rachel is doing very well and it doesn't matter if she doesn't get all the numbers games.

Not saying I hate Rachel or Jeff but I stopped watching after Des O
he was my 2nd favourite after Richard

The old days were the best

On a related note, did anyone see Carole Vordeman on Question Time recently? Funniest thing I've seen in ages. She was like a scarey school-teacher with a dash of dominatrix.

Probably autistic, I don't like when they are on with their photographic memories and ability to memorise the entire dictionary. The programme becomes too predictable and spoils it for others.
