Countdown - so much better these days!

I don't watch the racing but I know a lot of people are probably interested in it, and it is only once a year, so I don't mind that too much.

I do think though maybe they could have bumped it up to 4.15 and put it on instead of Deal or No Deal.

Yeah that was good. She did handle it well. I liked Jeff's comment when they went to him. He said something along the lines of "I thought they were taking the um.. mickey with those letters!"

They never used to pick the f c and k letters. I think this has always been avoided in the past. I bet the contestants saw it. Everyone else did!

Because as the letters come out you might see the makings of a word so you pick the next in the hopes that it fits your word.

I'm afraid it isn't correct.

The intention is that each conundrum only has one solution, but they have overlooked alternate answers in past shows and the official countdown rule book states that if this were to happen, they would accept any valid answer.

While it's now unlikely that the conundrum would have two or more solutions (presumably they check each one with an anagram solver), it's still a situation that has been considered and accounted for in the rules.

Rather boring, I thought. Luckily it was full of the most delectable doll in existance.

The ad after for the IT Crowd new series showed a scene featuring Moss on Countdown. I hope that means Rachel will appear.

Oh, and I too liked both contestants today. And it was an upset, but IIRC not that big of one. I'm sure the lady only lost out quite narrowly, and could have one if she'd just noticed something simple. Cant't remember what, though.

Re:the early morning repeats.

According to my Freeview EPG, there's no Countdown repeats next week, despite the fact it's still on at 3.25pm all week with no pre-emptions for racing. Instead it's some programe called Switched and repeats of St Elsewhere which will be shown in CD's slot.

I didn't like him either. Too much of a Kirk Bevins-esque air of bumptiousness. I don't think he's anywhere as near as good as Kirk was on the letters though.

Oh, and Rachel has fantastic legs! :)

Haha, good capture.. if only this happened (don't click if easily offended, nsfw) once though. :D

How are the ratings for countdown nowadays? Have the new presenters brought in more since des or less?

That really stretches the definition of "news" doesn't it?

Wasn't it Matthew Parris who 'blew the whistle' on the use of earpieces over a decade ago?

I think there's still a five year old audio interview on the BBC Oxford site during which Susie openly admits that Damian Eadie, the Series Producer, suggests worRAB via the earpieces.

This just seems to be the latest of a succession of negative stories about the show (Ratings halved, Rachel can't do the sums etc). It's almost as if someone bears a grudge against the show.

Had a week off work, has made me realise how good Vorderman and O'Connor were. The current presenters are cold and detached, Jeff always seems to take the p**s out of the contestants, and Rachel is so condesending, and twice she said the numbers game wasn't possible, and it was !!
Don't think the show will last much longer.

Presumably he got so used to presenting Police, Camera, Action or whatever it was called, that he's been unable to switch his volume down ever since.

His smug, smirky smile after saying he's got a longer word than his opponent isn't a facial tick. I thought at first it might be, but it isn't. I don't give a toss that he has ticks, that's not why I think he's hideous.
