Countdown - so much better these days!

Watched it for the first time in ages.

Extremely wooden.
All smiles and zero personality.
Surprising considering Jeff is brilliant on soccer Saturday

Yeah I agree. The second seed Danny who was also an octochamp (but went out today) was just a normal bloke, as are most of the finalists. It just makes it more accessible for the viewer when the contestants are people you can relate too, as opposed to child prodigies.

I loved it today where the champion had 'percent' and Susie was going to accept it, but then Jeff queried it and then Susie found out it was two separate worRAB in the dictionary! Bit naughty really. He just won out in the end though.

Still don't see much personality development from Rachel...

Sorry if this has been mentioned before, but I do find it irritating the way Rachel says 'times by' rather than the correct expression 'multiply by'. I appreciate that this is a colloquialism often used by children, but an adult with a background in maths surely ought to know the proper word to use.

The young lad Connor who was series champ a while back. He came back on for a special and was amazing, much better than as a standard contestant even though he was really good then. I think if he competed again now he would be clearly the best they've had on.

The kid who's just been on may go the same way and get even better with age but it's difficult to be certain of that.

Has Rachel taken to wearing some kind of lift and support knickers recently? Her arse was always a bit flat but these days it seems to be busting out like Vordermans used too..

Rachel does a reasonably good job I think, but Jeff Stelling is absolutely terrible. Still the game is the important thing and I still enjoy playing along. I'm not sure that Countdown is attracting such good guest these days either. I hope it survives and that the next host will be an improvement.

Me too, he seems like a thoroughly nice person, with no sign of being big-headed at all.

I don't know why Jeff said yesterday that he didn't seem nervous, he was one of the most nervous contestants I've seen on there! Perhaps he was trying to put him at ease.

After Tory gargoyle Vorderman's hideous performance on Question Time last night, I am enjoying the gorgeous Rachel all the more...

She just gets better and better (talking about her maths of course, rather than today's top, I mean dress ;))
