.::Coming-of-Age/Teen Movies::.

Definitely not alone.

Do you guys have an all-time favorite coming-of-age/teen movie that just spoke to you when you first saw it; one you could relate to in a unique way - something like that?

Oh okay, lol.

Ohhhhhhh, I think I know what movie you're talking about. I remember seeing the trailer for it, haven't seen the movie yet though. It does sound good.

My Girl and Man on the Moon both make me cry.

I watched St. Elmo's Fire again recently...that is so tops for me. I love that one so much. It speaks volumes to any generation, I think, without hitting you over the head.

I love Court/Dani....and that is a really good coming-of-age movie. I didn't like her sister and Court.

Omg, I loved that, lol.

I also loved when Hilary Faye ran her van into Jesus, "I just ran my van into Jesus!" :lmao:

Haha. No, that's okay. I've seen the movie before- a long time ago- and I forgot how it ends. Thanks for refreshing my memory!

Haha, glad to know I wasn't the only one! :D

The Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants is a great choice. I haven't seen the sequel, but Carmen and Bridget especially, made for very compelling coming of age stories.

Yeah, the part with the leeches freaked me out.

Those are good ones on your list. :)

Clueless is such a cult favorite by now. Love it! :D

I've never heard of that one either. I'm slacking it seems.

John Hughes was a friggin' Coming-of-Age genius, lol.

And I heart Camp Nowhere!

I don't think Juice is indie, but it's older. Probably early 90's.

I just watched of the most earnest coming of age movies ever, that I've seen anyway. Nothing Is Private, also known as Towelhead (I deeply apologize if this offends anyone, I only added it because it's the title of the book and how the movie is better known. ) It's about a 13 year old girl awakening to her body. It's disturbing because it's so real and true to life.

I've only really got 4 good coming of age/teen movies which are [in no particular order]:

Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants (1 & 2)
Pretty in Pink
The Breakfast Club
16 Candles

Excellent Movie...

I felt the same way you did. After watching the film, It was hard to watch for a while there after. It took a couple of months for me to see it again. It's been about 13 years, since I orginally watched it and I still cry like it's my first time seeing it. Wonderfully acted by the whole cast. I love every minute of it, but the ending, but that is what makes it such a great coming of age story, tied in with first crush for Dani, first love for Maureen, and tragedy for both of them.

Ok, I thought it was. I added some of the Indie's I like.

My fav. part of Saved! was when Mac's character was dressed as the rollerskate, I mean, how cut was that, lol.
