Cleaning oil-soaked wetlands may be impossible

Oh, I know. I'm not against drilling for oil. I'm against doing it irresponsibly. We need oil, but could these motherfuckers not have done some serious research on how to contain a spill like this at this depth ahead of time? It's not like they don't have the money to do the research and develop technology to make this shit safer.

learn as they go? are you fucking serious?

those stupid faggots said they had a plan for "worst case scenario"

well, it's happened. they're being shady and not fixing it like they said they would.

what's fucked up about it though, is if they WERE drilling in shallower waters the leak would most likely have been stopped within a matter of hours or a couple of days vs. months.

Shhhh, let the educated people who know about this stuff speak.

I am sure you have had a ball reading threads like these. The armchair experts of OT saving the world, one disaster at a time. No one in the oil industry cares right now!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

apparently they said they were using that particular chemical because it was what was available at the time. they have ordered some other shit from some fucking company somewhere that's supposed to be better.

Fuck that. I'm still for offshore drilling. I'm just also for being careful when you do it.

it sucks what happened but are you willing to give up plastic, driving, TV, electricity, etc. etc. etc.?

How dense can people be?

Hell, the company I did my engineering stuff for purchased a couple spots in the gulf where platforms had toppled, severing multiple supply riser lines and umbilicals. Those spots were purchased, cleaned up, and redone with a new system and now produce oil/natural gas.

What are some long term effects of the oil spilling into the wetlands (besides the obvious animals and plant life dying)?

from what i understand if we destroy the wetland this will make new orleans far more susceptible to devastating hurricanes, so this could be a real bonus
