Classic/Iconic/Art films you think are rubbish

Forgot to add Shakespeare In Love - a silly film with an overrated performance from Gwyneth Paltrow - thankfully it seems not to be very highly regarded anymore.
 
I'll add Performance (starring Mick Jagger) to my list. Crap, worthless bit of film. For some reason just looking at it made me want to vomit! They made some truly idiotic films back in the 60s.
 
This thread reminRAB me of that episode of Family Guy where Peter Griffin says he can't be doing with The Godfather then proceeRAB to wax lyrical about The Money Pit. ;)
 
Totally agree with you about Woody Allen. Can't stand the man.
Didn't like Space Odyssey either.
Thought the rest were ok.

Can't stand 'Blow Up' with David Hemmings. Thought it a complete waste of time.
Didn't like 'Saving Private Ryan' either.
'Vertigo' is one of the few Hitchcock films I don't like.
'Blue Velvet' - couldn't understand why anyone liked this.

The Howling [and it got a lot worse as the sequels went on].

These are the movies I can remember just now that I have seen in the past that just didn't cut it. There will be more though, when I remember them.

I love everything Greenaway did up to but not including Prospero's Books - didn't like that one and haven't seen any since. Not that I've been deliberately avoiding them.
The 3 classics are Draughtsman's Contract, A Zed and Two Noughts, and The Cook etc.

BTW OP, what's the point of this thread? Is it to start arguments? :D
 
I've never seen the whole film, the middle hour of Sound of Music I can't remember . :o

Seeing the bit of Antonioni bashing going here I think Zabriskie Point is a worse film than Blow Up , though it is pretty to watch it is tedious.

Although not totally rubbish A Clockwork Orange is a film I'd struggle to sit through now . :yawn:
 
Of recent releases, Benjamin Button left me cold, although I think a major factor was Brad Pitt.

I saw the Shawshank Redemption today and I thought it was good, but how it's number 1 on the IMDb Top 250 baffles me.
 
I hate the fact that Allen is always massaging his own ego and his love interests are often nubile young nymphs. His dialogue is always witty, but often repetitive and predictable. I like Annie Hall though...

I love Eraserhead :(, Lynch is never less than stellar.
