Classic albums any true music fan should own or at least listen to

Eesh, Bob Marley > Burning Spear.

I wish I had been around when this thread was still worth something, I'll still reccommend for my personal enjoyment.

Miles Davis - Kind of Blue (1959)
Pink Floyd - Piper at the Gates of Dawn (1967)
Marvin ***e - What's Going On (1971)
Tom Waits - Rain Dogs (1985)
Dj Shadow - Entroducing... (1996)
Burial - Untrue (2006)

Up for debate in accordance to the new rule:

Screamadelica- Primal Scream (2001)

I didn't think about it because I have it on record, but it is pretty ****ing sweet. There are so many genres blended in this album to create a this sound which is so different from music I have heard before.

I like self titled more but this thread isn't a really a what you like better thread it's more of a what would most people like thread.

I think Metallica-And Justice for All should be switched to either Ride the Lightning or Master Puppets. They're way better.

Haha...well the problem is that I wanted the list to be at the beginning, and I can't exactly put an extra post between my first and the second by Mr.Jack. Or can I?:doesn'treallyknow:

Ziggy Stardust - David Bowie (It's not that I don't like Ziggy Stardust, I do, considering it's one of the 3 songs I know how to play on a guitar. I think of it as more good glam rock than anything else. I find Low much more innovative and unique, mainly because this was the first album that Brian Eno's worked with Bowie. Low had more musical substance than Ziggy Stardust ever had.
Grace - Jeff Buckley (I don't really listen to him, so i'm not going to judge)
Dark Side of the Moon - Pink Floyd (I find Animals and The Wall better than Dark Side of the Moon. I initially liked the slowness of it, but I often find myself getting a bit bored by the end of Dark Side of the Moon. Animals is just a classic and the lyrics and guitar in The Wall just is superior than those in Dark Side of the Moon)
To Venus and Back - Tori Amos
Ten - Pearl Jam
Rain Dogs - Tom Waits
Murder BallaRAB - Nick Cave
Little Creatures - Talking HeaRAB
Pretty Hate Machine - NIN
DeLoused in the Comatorium - The Mars Volta
Dry - PJ Harvey
OK Computer - Radiohead (the cause of the list. Just ignorant to put down)
Agaetis Byrjun - Sigur Ros
King For a Day - Faith No More
..........And Justice For All - Metallica
Pearl - Janis Joplin / Big Brother & the Holding Company
Post - Bjork
Brothers in Arms - Dire Straights
Dirt - Alice in Chains
Smells Like Children - Marilyn Manson
On Stage at Chastain Park - James Brown
Badmotorfinger - Soundgarden
De Stijl - The White Stripes
Songs of Love and Devotion - Depeche Mode
Blindmelon - Blindmelon
Bayou Country - CCR
Eddie and the Cruisers - Soundtrack
Tales From Urban Bohemia - The Dandy Warhols
Crooked Rain, Crooked Rain - Pavement (This cd is again, like most of the other cRAB you have picked, their most commercial success. Although I like a good nuraber of the songs on that album, it lacks the same influence from The Fall that their first album, Slanted and Enchanted has)
Piano Man - Billy Joel
Lies - Guns 'n' Roses
Jesus Christ Superstar - Original Soundtrack
Waiting For the Sun - The Doors
At The Mountains of Madness - Blackfeather
Don't Say No - Billy Squier
Blues Brothers - Soundtrack
Fireball - Deep Purple
Monster - REM
Folsom Prison Blues - Johnny Cash
Pump - Aerosmith

i'll finish the rest another day. I need to go and do stuff.

If you're having trouble spelling adidas, you can just call me Marijan.
I didn't wanna search for a list on line because I wanted a personalized, rabroad one. Besides, I trust people here more than a bunch of pretentious strangers.

Also, I was hoping this thread would turn into something more, and eventually we could upload those albums to some permanent file storage place so each of us (current and future rab-ers) could improve on our overall knowledge of music.

@Stu: But but but....I like Elephant the best....:(

Have you heard the version that Sundazed put out?

Its everything Spence recorded solo, everything from those Oar sessions, even a few unfinished songs he chose to record just cause they had some tape left.:)

I'm going to second Green Day's Dookie. Seems like the quintessential 90's pop-punk album to me. I think half of those songs are ingrained in all our psyches.
