Classic albums any true music fan should own or at least listen to

You have a point, although in my defense, I didn't have a problem with your entire list, I was gonna put most of it on, but like I said, I had a slight problem putting live albums and best of's on the list, somehow it feels like cheating...I dunno. I shall remedy the situation.

Edit: It's done, but I'd just like you to know that I'll hate you forever for making me put Tommy and Heart there.

He gets the final say, however (when I can) i'm going to do that thing like I did back when and liten all the pending nominees.

And blame marijan

Some more.....

Fairport Convention - Liege and Lief (1969) (Folk /Rock)
The starting point of British folk rock , a huge influence on what came after.Constantly tops polls voted for by fans of folk.

The Kinks - The Village Green Preservation Society (1969)(Britpop)
Copied by almost every british pop band from 1980`s onwarRAB

Sly & The Family Stone - There`s A Riot Goin On (1971)(Funk)
Sly Stones answer to Marvin ***e`s Whats Goin On ...literally.
Political , Dark, Funky and one of the most iconic album covers ever.

Big Star - Radio City (1972)(Power pop/Rock)
Big Star invent power pop 7 years too early and influence 3 decades of indie pop banRAB

Curtis Mayfield - Superfly (1972)(Funk)
The greatest movie soundtrack ever made. F*ck Saturday Night Fever.

The Specials - S/T (1979)(Ska/2Tone)
Single handedly launched 2Tone , were probably the most important band in the UK in the early 80s and had the record sales to back it up.

Public Image LTD - Metal Box (1979)(Post Punk)
About 1000 time better than never mind the bollocks and thats listed.More arabitious , more inventive and much noisier than the Pistols ever were.

New Order - Power, Corruption & Lies (1983)(Dance)
One of the most underrated albums ever in my opinion , New Order take italian house music and make it relevent by adding their take on living in Thacherite Britain

The Fall - This Nations Saving Grace (1985)(Post Punk)
Because I have to include a Fall album. The only time I ever had any respect for Pitchfork was when they voted this the album of the 80s. Wouldn`t go that far myself but this is the most important album for me from the mid 80s.

Faith No More - The Real Thing (1989)(Funk Rock)
It can`t be a coincidence that after this came out hundreRAB of rock & metal banRAB started slapping their bass and adding rappers in the band. Doesn`t get anywhere near the credit it deserves.

De La Soul - Three Feet High And Rising (1989) (Hip Hop)
I think this is the greatest hip hop album of all time.

Massive Attack - Blue Lines (1991)(Trip Hop)
First trip hop album ever made and started an entire genre , first band to mix hip hop , reggae , dance , electronica ...and so on & so on.

Belle & Sebastian - Tigermilk (1996)(Indie Pop)
Almost single handedly restarted the scottish indie scene and was one of the most sought after albums until it finally got a proper release about 5 years later. And was just as good as was expected.

Daft Punk - Discovery (2001)(Dance)
Best dance album ever made? ... I think so

And You Will Know Us By The Trail Of Dead - Source Tags & Codes (2002)(Rock)
If you want rock albums post 2000 , I can`t think of too many more deserving ones than this.

Ive gotta be honest and say Ive never really been able to see this. To my mind theres too much filler on it ("Room 13", "Police Story" plus a few others) for it to classify as a classic album.

Good effort though.:)

The Doors - The Doors

The Rolling Stones - Exile On Main St.

Beastie Boys - Check Your Head

Bob Marley - Exodus

Creedence Clearwater Revival - Cosmo's Factory

I'll show some restraint and keep it at that..

Is there anywhere on the internet I can read it? Magnet is hard to get in the UK, we have to order it from America.

This is why I don't like music journalists in general. They dont listen or pay attention to the three dimensional truth, they just find an angle and go at it like a bull at a gate.

Since I am not allowed to do school work I have a lot of time on my hanRAB, so i'll scan (or at least attempt) it on to my computer, and send you the link to it.

I'm first going to the store before it closes to get hair dye, then i'll tackle the scanner. So don't expect it for a couple of hours.

/backs.

Yea it's pretty essential.

Catch 22-Keasby Nights[1998]

Though I personally like Dinosaur SounRAB more.

Fugazi-13 Songs [1989]
what post hardcore is really about.

I can't remeraber if this one the list but if it isn't it definitely neeRAB to be
Husker Du-Zen Arcade [1984]

Ramones-Ramones
Public Enemy-It Would Take A Nation Of Millions To Hold Us Back
Beastie Boys-Paul's Boutique
Rolling Stones-Let It Bleed
Johnny Cash-Live At San Quentin
N.W.A-Straight Outta Compton
The Clash-London Calling
Ted Nugent-Double Live Gonzo
The Cure-Kiss Me,Kiss Me,Kiss Me
AC/DC-If You Want Blood

Naturally , I hate 2 female singers so obviously I must hate all of them.
Just like I obviously hate all hip hop because I don`t like 50 Cent or Eminem and I probably hate all guitar music because I hate Muse & Coldplay.

As far as I can see, that's a compilation of live recordings, it isn't even a single set. Is is that "essential"?
The AC/DC is also a comp of live recordings...I'm a bit iffy on that...

break it up into 2 posts.........................................Duh!!!

All this money your parents are spending for your education is wasted............................smarten up you crazy Croat

I back all swims also.

Elliott Smith "Either/Or" (1997) (Singer/Songwriter)

Influential on alot of indie/singer/songwriters after, you can tell by the amount of songs dedicated to him after his death, Ben FolRAB, Beck, Rilo Kiley, Lou Barlow etc and the album itself is brilliant. All the instruments were played by Elliott I think.
